Forms...

We have a story/poetry section on my site where, up until now, people could just submit their own stories as a new thread.

Now however, I'd like to have a form on our site, where people can submit the story via a form, send, the story will go to an email address, where our volunteer editors will proofread, do spelling and grammatical corrections and post the story for the author.

IS there such a hack? If not, I can always create a webpage and place a form on it, linking to it from the story section..... but where would I find one?

thanks for any help

there is a forms hack (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93970) on vb.org - its not what you want stock, but maybe it could be modified a bit...

The other option, would be to use the contact us feature, again with a little modification.

Thanks Joe, I've been looking all morning and finally decided to create a webpage on my site, separate from the forum, and place a form on that. I found the form at bravenet.com, which I'd forgotten about. I used them before way back when I created websites for $.

thanks for the help!

Why not have them enter their submissions into a moderated forum so that their submissions remain not publicly viewable. Then get your team to review/amend the submissionetc, and validate it when it is of an acceptable standard. As soon as it is approved/validated, it will be seen by all.

That's one way - another would be to have all submissions placed into a non-public forum that even when approved are not viewable, then have a process where the team amend/review and then simply move it to the public forum when it is validated.

HA! I finally found the form of my dreams! (see? I don't ask for much :p )

I was going through my webhosting package features in cPanel last night, and came across a forms generator feature! Even better, I found it under Fantastico, which installed it for me!
The form creating instructions are very clear and detailed, so anyone would be able to understand how to create a form. AND... you can create up to 100 forms on the single installation, you have a choice of saving them to your existing db, creating a new db or not saving them in a db at all.

So if anyone is in need of a form creator, and you have Fantasticoas part of your hosting package, then check it out... you just may have a forum generator in there.

this is the form I created last night (well, this morning, depending on how you look at it)

I really like the Forms hack on .org.

You can create more for different needs. I have one for moderator application process. It is emailed to me for review. I have another one for reviews of sewing machines, and those get posted in a new forum just for that purpose.

It really is a nice hack :)
