Joeychgo 11-19-2005, 01:41 AM On some parts of this website, I have installed the Yahoo Publisher Network.
Feel free to ask questions - Ill be happy to answer them as best as I can.
theMusicMan 11-19-2005, 04:52 AM 1st question Joey... where???
AnthonyCea 11-19-2005, 08:55 AM That is great Joey, I just seen the ads MusicMan, right here in this thread!
theMusicMan 11-19-2005, 09:02 AM OK, cheers... I must keep taking those pills eh!
So Joey. do they pay better than Google's?
SportsOutlaw 11-19-2005, 10:34 AM Let us know how they do for you in terms of click through percentage, compared to adsense.
I got in early in the beta and was having horrible luck with it. tons of irrelevant junk, and a masive drop in clicks.
Joeychgo 11-19-2005, 01:33 PM SO far - yes they pay MUCH better then Adsense. On average, 10x more then adsense. However, they do not have enough advertisers to be relevant most of the time. CTR is in the toilet. But with the difference in payout, a ctr of 5% on adsense can equal a ctr of .5% on yahoo.
If they keep payouts like this and get more advertisers so ads are more relevant, I think adsense is in alot of trouble.
Ive been discussing YPN in the VBW Blog (http://www.vbwebmaster.com/blog/index.php) lately.
SportsOutlaw 11-19-2005, 04:09 PM Are you targeting your ads? Or just letting yahoo decide?
When I tried both options before, it didnt seem to matter.
Joeychgo 11-19-2005, 06:42 PM Depends on the catagory as to whether it matters - whether they have advertisers willing to be targeted for that catagory
SportsOutlaw 11-19-2005, 08:14 PM I am back to running it on my home page, and one other high traffic page of my site. I will monitor and see how I do.
Joeychgo 11-19-2005, 11:48 PM As I said - Im pretty much running it on lower CTR pages at this point, trying to boost my adsense at the same time. Thats the strategy im recommending right now.
theMusicMan 11-20-2005, 11:15 AM Do you use conditionals to determine which pages you display which ads on Joey?
EDIT: Darned it, it would seem that this is only open to US residents... bah humbug....

rezapci 02-19-2007, 06:26 PM I Have problem! I have a Yahoo publisher ads on my forum, but they pretty much display seam ad on all my page and forum and header.. it driving me crazy.. any tips?
Joeychgo 02-19-2007, 08:15 PM thats part of why I stopped using YPN. They dont have enough ads for some niche sites.
john939 06-22-2007, 02:31 AM Yahoo bought Overture and they had a large database of ads. They use to supply the smaller but rather large and popular search engines with their ads. They had alot of advertisers at one point. I thought they still would have a large amount. I know that their targetting of ads is very poor, but I would think that was more because of their targetting techniques with the scripts rather than the advertisers they have.
Look at Google and how targetted their search engine results are and then look at Yahoo's search results and how not so targetted they are.
It shows that Google know's more when it comes to targetting content rather than Yahoo.
That's just what I think anyway and I most probably am slightly wrong here. lol
