Hi everyone, Im a newbie to being an admin of a board.
I just got my bulletin 24 hours ago and host set up.

Anyways, I got my forums set up as Ive been on a board with lots of hacks and knew what I wanted. I was a bit overwhelmed though with my admin panel and setting everything.

I can't really find a skin. It's actually a heart website for medical professionals so I would like this color of a skin but everything else is good enough.

I am just curious about some of the things I am used to on another board. THe last three hour search is changing the bb codes so I automatically can insert a named link into the text.

for example I have http xxxxxxxx for a link

At my other board, I push on the link button and it says name your link, click ok, then it pops up the url window to post the real address to be posted.

It does the changing of the link automatically. Since its a medical board, I have literally TONS of links in any given post and want it be part of the text, if I mention aortic stenosis during the conversation and someone wants to read more on that then they click on it. Sort of like Wikipedia does that alot.

I would like to set it up to easily rename links like that and Ive been searching for hours now. Any help would be appreciated.

Also I plan on using googleadwords for those little things on the side and also journals so I'll help contribute my experience to the board. From what I read this seems to be a friendly more helpful place than others so I'll be here often. I want to put in several hacks I think and ebooks and commerce in the future after I figured out the basics

Thank you in advance.

Hi Stryker and welcome to vb-FAQ

It's easy to rename links such as you're talking about with the wikipedia.

After you've typed the words that you want to be clicked on, then highlight them with your mouse, click the link button, type in the url, and click OK. Then you can make it bold, change it's colors, or just leave it alone. That's all.

I don't know a thing about the adwords, but I'm sure that someone else will jump in here ;)
