admin0 11-22-2005, 10:20 AM Hi,
what is the next best/nearest thing after vba gallery that i can install to get somewhat the same features .
noppid 11-22-2005, 10:35 AM I would say there is nothing just like vBaGallery or photopost. They are unique.
There is a picture gallery for vBulletin, vBPicGallery (http://www.cpurigs.com/). It too is unique. Since I don't know what features the above mentioned vBa and PP products have and have never owned either, I can't compare the three.

I for one am going with Coppermine (http://coppermine-gallery.net/index.php). Heard bad things about their support team, but unlike PP its free, so such a thing can be excused. Nicely featured too.
Joeychgo 11-22-2005, 02:17 PM I like vB Pic Gallery also and use it on all my auto sites.
I too am a vBPicGallery user.
It is the simpolest install and i believe one of the fastest gallery add-ons for vB available.
Also, it is customizable.
dstephan 11-23-2005, 09:19 AM Does anyone know if vb gallery has been integrated into vbadvanced CMPS?
That's why I wanted to go with vba gallery. I checked out coppermine, but the support seems to be horriffically rude. I'm not an expert and will probably need a bit of guidance on whatever gallery I install.
Scribbller 11-27-2005, 07:41 AM VBPic gallery looks good but I will give Photopost a shot with PP VB gallery and see how it goes, since my license now expires in 2007 I am in no hurry really.

Here is vBPicGallery on vBa CMPS home page (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=101542) for ya.
Here is the code to put your vBPicGallery URLs in vBSEO Google Sitemaps (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=101563). This is a big help in SEO. In fact, vBPicGallery (http://www.cpurigs.com/) was written specifically to be seo friendly URL and content wise from the get go. Content is king and each vBPicGallery can be configured so that each user creates unique and high quality content automattically in each gallery.
Most other galleries are about the pics. vBPicGallery is not only about the pics, it's about your site, your members and your success! We don't stop at the pics, we give you the whole package of SEO and content abilities you need to expand your site, get your site indexed in the search engines with quality on topic site specific keywords, and give you and your members pride in your vBulletin community.
Other galleries are about the Pic, what size it is, when it was uploaded, and some other details. Who really cares what size the picture is? 800x600 or 400x200? Visitors want to read the members gallery and look at the pics being able to live in the moment the member posting the pics is sharing.
vBPicGallery, a photo gallery for vBulletin software, gives your visitors the moments your members want to share, not just the demensions of the pic and some specs.
Expand your vBulletin communities content, don't just add pics, use vBPicGallery the photo gallery for vBulletin (http://www.cpurigs.com/)!
ChrisLM2001 11-27-2005, 09:42 AM Noppid, since your software has more features than just a photo gallery, changing the name to something else that reflects it has more features can help it's growth.
My impression it was just a photo gallery, thus if it's just a gallery it's like all other gallery scripts. Such impressions can keep interest down, because if someone already has one, why should they try your gallery?
And you need folks who have tried the others, to get the PR valued testimonials like, "I tried all of them, but vBPicGallery has more options...".

Thanks for the heads up Chris. I'm trying to wear a few hats here, and I'm not an expert under all of them. Suggestions help alot.
I kinda put the cart beofre the horse and only now have started talking about what vBPicGallery a photo gallery for vBulletin is. It was written for the purpose of expanding your vBulletin communities content, expanding the sites position in the SERPs, and increasing revenue by having areas that are strategically placed available for your advertising. This puts the vBPicGallery leaps and bounds ahead of galleries designed only to show pictures.
More content == better positioning in the SERPs! vBPicGallery is designed to allow you to guide your members to creating unique, on topic, keyword rich content for your vBulletin community in every gallery.
ChrisLM2001 11-27-2005, 10:19 AM How about a name like vBPhotoPro (ohhhh, that's evil. It's even shorter than Photopost Pro)? Or vBPicSEO. Or vBArt-Gallery (which is a nice spin if it does anything for article presentation, too). ;)
A product name has to be catchy, not long, and fits the product's purpose. If vBPicGallery expands further into more SEO optimization, it no longer solely a gallery script (and folks won't associate it's other features with just "pic gallery" in it, which will hurt sales).
Need a PR write up too, Noppid. So you can easily post about the product and highlight it's features with bullets and other text based eye grabbers (like using line breaks to highlight a product feature -- whitespace is your friend).

I'm listening, putting into form will be another story! As we speak I'm writing and expanding a description of vBPicGallery (http://www.cpurigs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2056).
Thanks for your input, don't be surprised if I use some if it. So can I get a release of your ideas? LOL
ChrisLM2001 11-27-2005, 10:41 AM KISS principle applies.
Think of a byline that describes your product in less than 8 words. Use it for your sig with a link to the writeup.
Make a writeup this simple...
[Product description -- Explain why your product is better than the competition here. Try to keep it no longer than 3 paragraphs. Ideally just one. Use that SEO economy of keywords here!]
[Bullet list of features that seperate your product from the rest. Just don't highlight what your gallery offers, as XYZ already has it. You need to show what you have what no other gallery has below -- keep it under 10 entries]
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
[What it can do for your site if installed here. You can also put a couple of sentences about pricing too (but I wouldn't on the front page, as it's a turn off and "pushy")]
[End it with something like this -- 'For more product details click here --> link to a the frontpage write up, where they can get your brief sales pitch and will have to click the detail page from there. It's a circular loop. Don't let them bypass the sales pitch in your description above]
Keep it very short and to the point (use whitespace to add filler if you must), as folks don't have time to read a treatise (keep that to the details page). And have a copy of the detail page text available to easily cut/paste to answer questions and leave the short description to advertize from forum to forum.
Chris
noppid 11-27-2005, 10:49 AM That's nice Chris, I'm sure it will benefit many in other areas too.
Thanks
admin0 11-27-2005, 02:52 PM When someone clicks on the gallery on the NavBar, i want the default categories (with cat thumbs) to be displayed, in where the picture being posted will be moderated .. ..
and a list of member galleries where they can create their own sub-categories and upload whatever they want ..
vbpg is a bit different .. ..
can it be customized easily to fit the above ?
also an automatic slideshow will be cool :)

maybe give me links to a few sites that have used a different template system then the default..

I'm sure a gallery like that exists, somewhere. I'm also sure it's gonna cost well over 100$ to purchase.
vBPicGallery is not what you desire though unfortunalty. vBPicGallery is a member gallery system, not a category gallery system like some others.
admin0 11-27-2005, 03:01 PM LOL :D
can we make or can someone make vbGA look like
http://www.photopost.com/photopost/index.php
also what app can read the EXIF info of the picture ?
I plan to have a amateur photographers site

Interesting tidbit. I'm going to research that one. However, vBPicGallery will remain a member gallery.

your vbpicgallery looks very interesting. Once I sort out some of the bugs on my site I might have to consider looking into it.
How much of an impact does it truly have though? Alot of people on my site just put their pics up in threads. I'm wondering how you could get people to use the gallery....
ChrisLM2001 11-28-2005, 01:11 PM Do what cgtalk.com (or now it's cgsociety.org) has done: showcase the gallery openly under the banner. Gives an incentive to include more, and keep folks on the site.
[Major hint for Noppid as an option <-- design sites would love a similar script to highlight the best graphic designs by members]

The feedback I'm getting and seeing at my motorcycle forum (http://www.riderinfo.com/) is that the users are embracing it.
The new editor interface of Rev 8 Should be a big plus. I think I could have done better, so I got it handled.
