Have you filled out your profile completely?

Have you lised your website, and its description? You get a free link that way! We even have thumbshots for those of you who are DMOZ listed!

Take a look at mine HERE (http://www.vbwebmaster.com/forums/member.php?u=1) for an example.

I have filled in my profile fully Joey but I don't see a screenshot of the site anywhere.

Come to think of it - that would be a great mod for vB eh! I might get stuck into that one. How did you do that?

EDIT: I see in the profile view now... my bad... thought it was on my edit profile page somewhere.

Thats cuz your site isnt listed in DMOZ.

I encourage you all to have extensive descriptions with alot of your keywords. The links will be more relevant to your site that way. Go ahead, write a good paragraph or two.

www.dmoz.com its and open source link directory, I think it's owned by google, not sure tho

its a very good thing to be listed here..

there are several other link directories that pull their info straight from dmoz..

and.. I've submitted my site to it,, just waiting to be approved..

ah ok, I may try that. It's been my experience that as soon as they know it's an adult site, even if there's no porn, they don't accept it. But it never hurts to try.

Let me explain my reasoning here folks.... Hopefully you'll see why I have done this and am asking people to write extensive descriptions.

Basically - the profile page is the users to control. 90% of the content on that page is controlled by the user.

Therefore - if the user places enough content (that is descriptive of the users website, including keyword phrases) on a profile page, that page will be seen as relevant to the user's website, and the link to the website will be stronger.

At the least It also makes the user profile pages unique, thus not susceptible to any duplicate content issues.

This is all theory at this point and im trying to think of ways to make it better and more concrete. One thing I want to do is play with the title / description a bit more.

It may take a while before your site shows up there, if at all. It took forever to get my site on there.

Best of luck.
