I have noticed on the vBulletin Hack Page (http://vbulletin-faq.com/vbulletin-hacks.htm) you have not suggested the popular Welcome Header mod. Is there a reason for this? I really like the idea of encouraging member registrations, however the idea that the same content is on every forum page (duplicate content issues) worries me a bit.
Does anyone wish to share experiences they have had with the mod? Do the benefits far outweight any perceived drawbacks (if any) ?

That is part of why I dont use it myself.

And the other reason for not using it ... ?

I have the welcome header hack on my site, and have had great success with it. I don't know about the "duplicate content" issues, I only know that my members have expressed their appreciation for the welcome and the reminders to post. And because it is easily edited, my new members are grateful for the more personal and detailed information found on the welcome header for guests.

I am not convinced it really helps. Although I have been considering trying it to see for myself.

I have noticed a marked increase in sign ups due to this hack - quality sign ups too, in combination with a dedicated introductions forum and the like :)

I haven't installed this hack for reasons above, however I have found just by installing the vBa CMPS on the homepage, the forums are now alot more prominent, and this in itself has seen forum member registrations skyrocket.
