I Feel Extremely Stupid Asking this, but

I've install many vB hacks for other people in the past. And I've only been able to do it because they had installed everything correctly and made sure the db was in order. The thing is, I've never installed vb itself. And I'm fairly certain I'll screw it up, as looking over the official manual, it looks harder than I've been told it would be.

Any chance anybody could install it for me?

I have the zip folder on my server so that it can be downloaded so that the needed files can be edited and it can be installed.

So if anybody can help, that would be great.

1) Unzip the vB zip on your local harddrive.
2) On your server create a folder for your forums in the public_html folder.
3) On your server create a mysql database. Note the db name, db username and user password.
4) On your local computer edit the the upload/includes/config.php.new file with the DB info noted from above. Save it as config.php. Delete any config.bak files that the editor may have created.
5) Upload the entire contents of the upload folder on your local hard drive to your server forum folder.
6) Run forum/install/install.php and follow the instructions.

It's not as hard as it may seem. Starting from scratch is pretty easy going once you have a database and a place to upload the files to.

If you just take your time and follow the directions - its very easy to install. Impex also is very easy.

Had it done. One question though:

Its set up so that the forums are at fhcclassof07.com/forums

How can I make it so that going to fhcclassof07.com auto-redirects to fhcclassof07.com/forums ?

Hey gp,

Try putting this as your index.php in the root of your domain;

<?php header( 'Location: /forums/' ); ?>

It will redirect the root of the domain to the index.php file in the /forums directory.
