Upgrade question

This is sorta an upgrade question.

Okay, I have several hacks installed all of them being arcade, vBplaza & a donations hack. Now when the new vBulletin comes along. And I do the upgrade install, will I lose all these hacks that have been installed?

That's all of my question really. Thank you.

Nope you won't lose your hacks. Especially the ones that you listed. I've had the vPlaza hack since vB3.5.2. It's been just fine through the upgrades

That's good to know, I feel more Secure with my forum. Any whom, I wont lose any skins will I neither.

oh Lord no... most skins are compatible with all 3.5.x versions of vB. If they need upgrading, the creator usually does that real quick and offers an upgraded version to replace what you have

when you upgrade vb you may have templates to revert, but all you have to do is re-edit those few.

and with plug-ins you wont have any issues in upgrading, just possible template and .php file edits..

Hi there guys,

When the newer version of vBulletin comes out of Beta and it is fully released, I am going to apply it to my forum. But the sad thing is, I have many plugins and hacks installed. Please don't tell me il have to install them again

As of this new software, il need to know how to upgrade my forums without losing any of my Modification(s) which are my files located in my root directory. I was going to submit a support ticket, but I want multiple view's on how to do this.

Hmm, do vBulletin do an upgrade service? If they do, I might pay for one as I don't want to lose any of my data.

This is bad news :( I just finished installing a load of hacks..and know this. So will I have to reinstall everything except the skins?

and How do I actually do an upgrade? :(

I was talking about the next upgrade, which I had assumed was going to be say, 3.5.5 or 3.5.6
However, they're bringing us a brand new version with many added features and changes. Many of us are in the same boat Mr. J. I have quite a few hacks on mine as well. So does Loco and many others.
Please don't fret about it just yet, ok? The new version is still in beta and will likely not be released for a couple of weeks, if not longer, as they tweak it and work out bugs.
As soon as it's released, the hack authors will be working to upgrade their hacks and produce the zip files. THEY will be able to tell us exactly what we need to do. Until they do, I won't be upgrading ;) Just because a new version comes out, doesn't mean you have to upgrade it right away.

Sorry, I went a bit crazy earlier on, I was just a bit sad when I heard I have to reinstall everything. But like you said, il just wait until the hack authors upgrade there hacks to vB v3.6! :)
It's no biggie, I might get Chris to reinstall everything for me or il just do it all again.. and with the vBplaza will users lose there points?


Just wondering though, will my skins from vBstyles work?

The style creators are usually pretty quick to upgrade their products so I wouldn't worry about that.
Let's just wait and see what goes down, and we'll all handle it together, okies?
