I am contemplating installing the vBadvanced CMS as I have always wanted the main part of my site to be more integrated with the forums.

However, I would really prefer to do a test install and try it out first before going live. As this deals with the homepage of the site, is it still possible to trial it out somehow?

sure, go ahead and install it, play with it, get it just the way you want it. You don't have to turn it on (or activate it) until you're ready to

Great thanks. Do you know if there is a feature within the CMS to enable mod rewrite? I wouldn't want to mod rewrite the forum pages, just clean up the URLs for the CMS pages (similar to how it's done on this site I think).

Why would I spend $150 when all I want to do is rewrite the CMS page URLs? I've already dont alot of SEO on my vB board as suggested on this site.

you can manually rewrite the links in the htaccess ;)

Yeah I figured that. However, the links produced in the Site Navigation by vBa are still dynamic links, which may cause duplicate content issues?

Who cares? I mean, about "duplicate content". That's what CMPS is: a different view of what your site has to offer. Changing the URL isn't going to change that, nor will it "fool" a search engine, nor should you even care/try - if CMPS will enhance the value of your site to your users, then use it.

What kind of rubbish statement is that? Lose all your SE referrals and then maybe you'll start caring

Fact: CMPS uses existing content from your site.

Fact: Rewriting a URL isn't going to change that.

Fact: "Duplicate Content" refers primarily to duplicating pages from another site/domain.

Fact: What drives a site is its value to members, not SEO-wanking.
