Need a vBulletin licensemikelbeck 12-29-2005, 01:34 PM I'm looking for a vBulletin license that has some time left on it. If you've got one you're looking to sell, reply here, PM me or e-mail me at mikel.beck@elite-computing.net. Thanks! AnthonyCea 12-29-2005, 02:47 PM What are they worth Mike? Do you have to buy them every year to keep your forum up? Please tell us the advantages and disadvantages of buying versus leasing! Peggy 12-29-2005, 02:54 PM I've just about raised enough $ to buy my owned license... from what I understand so far, the leased license ($85) is good for one year only... then you have to either lease another license, buy one, or remove vB from your forum. The customer support is good for as long as the license. If you BUY a license ($160), it's good for life. The support and privileges of downloading free styles and getting upgrades are good for one year, and for those privileges, you pay a yearly fee of $30. For short term, the leased license is a good deal, but if you're in this for the longrun, buying the license outright and paying $30 yearly is def the way to go AnthonyCea 12-29-2005, 03:12 PM Thanks for the information OSH :) So when are you going to make the switch over  Peggy 12-29-2005, 04:37 PM Thanks for the information OSH :) So when are you going to make the switch over  I need $60 more to be able to purchase the license/software mikelbeck 12-29-2005, 08:49 PM Yep, what she said. I've got an idea for a new forum, so I'm just looking for a leased license right now. If it takes off then I'll go for an owned license in the 2nd year. I've got a line on one (from another board), hopefully I can get it done tonight. ;-) Peggy 12-29-2005, 08:51 PM good luck! unknownkind 12-30-2005, 11:07 AM cant we keep all these Buying License in one topic? Instead of having multiple topics asking for the same thing  AnthonyCea 12-30-2005, 12:34 PM What should he have done, tagged this request on the back of an old thread  ;) gprime 01-01-2006, 11:49 PM I have a friend who may be getting rid of an owned license. He said he may give it to me for free. If not, I'm sure he'd sell it to you for a reasonable price, since he wants to switch to IPB. Loco.M 01-02-2006, 12:41 AM I have a friend who may be getting rid of an owned license. He said he may give it to me for free. If not, I'm sure he'd sell it to you for a reasonable price, since he wants to switch to IPB. I'd be interested in buying an owned licensed :) AnthonyCea 01-02-2006, 04:13 AM When you buy a license from someone is it good for life and how much do you have to pay for updates/upgrades, also do you have to pay a fee every year when you own it  gprime 01-02-2006, 11:45 AM When you buy a license from someone is it good for life and how much do you have to pay for updates/upgrades, also do you have to pay a fee every year when you own it  Owned means you can use it forever. If you want support and upgradess though, you need to pay $30 a year. AnthonyCea 01-02-2006, 01:50 PM Thanks man! How much does your buddy want for that  Gimpy Ric 01-02-2006, 04:01 PM What does Jelsoft think about all of this? Is it legal? And no I have not read the fine print yet. O.K., I've read the fine print and here it is: The Software is licensed only to you. You may not rent, lease, sublicence, sell, assign, pledge, transfer or otherwise dispose of the Software in any form, on a temporary or permanent basis, without the prior written consent of Jelsoft. One thing I learned in the Army was to ALWAYS COVER YOUR ASS! I've got a vB 3.5.2 setup on a screaming server, with mega bandwidth, ready to go. It's owned forever and upgradable till Sept. '06. Just need to email Jelsoft. I have 5 vB 3.x.x owned forums and WILL PLAY BY JELSOFTS RULES. I'm new to this forum, and need to read up on this subject. Ric  EDIT----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- O.K. I'm read now. I'll sell it. If you want it "turn key", that is leave it on my server already to go, we can do that. Here are my server specs. I own this server and co-locate it at BurstNET. Check this bandwidth: https://www.burst.net/network.shtml Dell 1850 1U Rack Server Dual Xeon 2.8 HT 64 bit cpu's 2 GIGs of RAM 10,000 rpm SCSI drives 2000 GB's of bandwidth a month BLAH, BLAH, BLAH..... If you just want the license, that's cool. But the forum is up here: http://www.thevoicecoil.com/forums Ric  minstrel 01-02-2006, 04:14 PM I don't think that clause is even legal. If I own a licensed copy of vBulletin, I'm pretty sure that, whatever they say, I can sell that copy to you and transfer the rights to the copy to you, as long as I am not also trying to use the software with the same license. Hell, not even Microsoft is THAT Draconian... AnthonyCea 01-02-2006, 04:21 PM I guess you just let them know who you are selling it to and they let it happen! :) mikelbeck 01-02-2006, 05:47 PM I've bought and sold vBulletin licenses, pretty much you just need to let them know that the license is going to be transferred, they update their info, contact the new owner to very, and then it gets transferred to them. Gimpy Ric 01-02-2006, 06:25 PM Thank's for the info! If anybody wants to buy an owned license 10 month's of upgrade left, just PM me. Ric  Peggy 01-02-2006, 09:48 PM yep they're transferrable. and you're too late, I JUST bought a new license :( Gimpy Ric 01-03-2006, 07:49 AM yep they're transferrable. and you're too late, I JUST bought a new license :( I LOVE your site! So risque. I'm going to join, and get in on some fun  Anyways, the license is being negotiated right now. Ric :) Multani 01-04-2006, 11:16 AM I'm interested in a license too, if it's still available. Gimpy Ric 01-04-2006, 11:49 AM It's still for sale. Here is my deal: It's a owned license, version 3.5.2, with updates good till Sept '06. I'm asking $120.00. I'll even host it for free for six months (see my other post about the server specs.). If I host it, I'll take $60.00 now, and $60.00 next month, by paypal ONLY. If you don't want the hosting, it's $120.00 upfront. Paypal only. And of course we'll contact Jelsoft and transfer it either way. Oh yeah, I have several skins for this version. It's setup at http://www.thevoicecoil.com/forums and I'm about to upgrade it to 3.5.3 which just came out today! PM me or leave message here (I'll be online till about 10:00 central every night). Thank's! Ric :) | |
