I'm about to try to get going again with vBulletin. I never got around to doing it, but I have newfound motivation.

I'm dreading trying to work through some sort of SEO hack and I'm wondering if any of you guys think that an SEO hack + .htm file extensions is worth it at all.

I'm thinking not, but I thought I should ask a few experts before I get too serious.

No - Its the consensus that any kind of Mod-rewrite is unecessary.

Forcus on page content, meta tags, things like that.

I've talked with some SEOs who are convinced it's worthwhile. We use vbSEO but it's costly. The install process went smoothly with no problems but was a bit confusing. It's worked so far without a hitch. I tried another free hack which took down the board, so I'd be careful about what you try.

I’ve been researching Vbseo. My thoughts are :

1) over priced for a product you cant ultimately gauge or know how it affected your site.

2) seo isn’t a certain science, things change.

3) over priced.

But certainly, i am still torn. I’m almost bit by the WHAT IF's. Maybe it really does do what it claims.... but then i get turned off by the rumors that their server needs to be up for your forum to function. I wouldn’t allow myself to be that dependent on a company, its asking for trouble
