Looking for an integrated Blog

I would like to add the option for members with a certain rank to have the option of opening a blog. Right now I am using vbadvanced, so I am planning on showing the recent posts to the blog on teh homepage too. The type of thing that I am looking for is like on "totalwebtalk.com" however I think that they use Drupal which is something that I would like to avoid.

Does anyone know if there is such a thing out there, or am I going to have to start something from scratch, probably using Wordpress? This is an option I would rather not entertain since I would like to have this option on the site by Feburary.

Thanks for the help in advance

Thanks,

I am still hoping that someone else out there has done something similar though. I don't have the time right now to get into programming my own, not yet at least

The most commonly used hack is this (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=96462&highlight=journal).

Otherwise, there is the modless option (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93800&highlight=journal).

vbJournal is still in Alpha for 3.5 so I am not going to install it on my site till it is at least BETA and the modless option has too many ways that an administrator (myself) could screw something up.

Thanks for the links though, even though the modless option doesn't work for me, it is something that I really didn't think about before

Then I'd suggest getting this hack (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=94443) ported to 3.5.3.

That is a great option
Will have to look around to see if it has already been ported or maybe get someone to do it for me

Thanks for the info.......

I'm considering installing vB Drupal (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=97341&page=1&pp=15) so I'm curious to know why you want to avoid it?

I'm considering installing vB Drupal (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=97341&page=1&pp=15) so I'm curious to know why you want to avoid it?

The main reason is that I know nothing of the code, and don't have time to test it.

However more and more it is looking that I am going to have to try it out

If you do decide to install it please let me know how it goes

I'll let you know, but it won't be for 2-3 mos. I'm still waiting for vBMS (vBulletin Mail System) to be ported to 3.5. Until that's done, we can't update vB to 3.5 and install anything new.

Why not just look at some of the sites using it?
