Guests Viewing Profiles

Does vB have a feature, or is there a hack, to prevent guests from viewing members' profiles?

Well...yes...but, if you use vB's built in function, guests won't be able to view the memberlist either. It's a catch-all solution...You either let guests view BOTH the memberlist and profiles, or you dont let them view EITHER.

I'm sure there would also be a way to disallow just profile views using a conditional of some sort, but I couldnt tell you off the top of my head :p

it's fine with me if they can't view the memberlist either... none of their business who's a member unless they join, lol. Can you tell me how to find it?

In your Admin Panel, go to Usergroup Manager and edit your guest group. This will be "Unregistered / Not Logged In" by default. Scroll down to General Permissions and change "Can View Member Info" from Yes to No...voila, now guests cannot view profiles or the memberlist

thank you!!

Oh, btw... I followed the link in your sigline to adminfusion. I registered, filled out my profile, added a avatar, profile pic, received the welcome PM, etc etc... even had the reminder at the top of the forum to make my first post. (where do you get that hack?) But, when I went to post... it said I wasn't a member.
So, I tried to log in again and it didn't recognize my username, pw or email address. LOL I tried twice, this was just a few minutes ago.
I didn't bother to try again, yet.

Yes, bizarre...I replied to your email with my thoughts on it, check it out and send me one back if you need...The mod I am using for those welcome messages can be found here - http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=99579
