Using Custom Title....... help?

Hi y'all. I'm using the custom title feature on my forum.... I want every member who reaches 501 posts to be able to create their own custom title.

SO.... how do I do that? I realize that I probably have to create another usergroup for them to go into and activate the custom title feature for that usergroup. However...

HOW? Is there a way that they are automatically promoted to that usergroup at 501 posts? Some permission setting somewhere? I don't want it based on date joined nor on reputation level... it needs to be that once they hit 501, they are moved to the new usergroup.

How do I do that? and can you please explain in great detail? I get confused easily :rolleyes:

Easiest way - IMO - Is to create a second usergroup with its own permissions -
Then have a promotion so when they reach 501 posts they are upgraded.

Admin CP> Usergroups> Promotions

Right I see in my acp what you're talking about Joey, I figured that's what the promotions thing was, but............

what I don't understand is which promotion strategy I would use to promote at 501 posts?
If I use simply... posts... what numbers do I place in the reputation level and days registered boxes? none?

You can put whatever you want in those other fields (rep and days registered)...as long as you have "Posts" selected in the Promotion Strategy drop-down box, it will be the only factor considered

thank you GT I did that this morning... I left the other two blocks blank and set it to promote based on posts, # of posts 501. However, this afternoon I checked it after work and while it did promote the few users over 500 posts to the new user group, they still don't have the option in their usercp to do a custom title. So I went into one users' info and where it says custom title = no, yes admin set, yes user set... it was set at No. ok... so is there another area that has something I need to tweak? Or do I have to set it to yes user set for every individual user after they're promoted?
