What's the point where it isn't worth page space

Hi -

I have a site that I started almost a year ago that is starting to get around 500 uniques per day on avg. Personally I do not like adsense banners on a page. (me as a designer's opinion)
My homepage is pretty full as it is and another banner makes it look cluttered. The other issue is when I have tried adding an adsense banner to the footer of my site and it displays links to my competitors.:eek:

A friend of mine said his site gets around 500-800 uniques per day and he only gets a check maybe once or twice a year for $100-$150. For me the space on my site is not worth that amount to me for a year. I think I could make more selling text links, it is a pr5 homepage.

I have read of some people making hundreds per month. So in your experiences how many uniques per day does it take to get that kind of ctr to generate any real money. 500,5000,10000?

It really depends on the forum. This time of year, adsense is useless to me on my entire site. Nobody clicks the ads. Certain times of year, I do great.

If it is the size of the ads that concern, you try adlinks instead. In some cases, your CTR may be better.

no one clicks the ad's on my forums either ..lol

i get more clicks from my wife's art site..

If I had a pr or 5 I'd definitely try selling some text links, or banners.. if no one is clicking the ad's now, I think you'd be better off this route..
