For the last couple of months I have seen my uniques increase, my SE traffic increase, but activity on the forum is not doing so well.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get more people to sign up and talk? I have tried paid posting but have not gotten the quality that I have been looking for.

Any ideas, promotional ideas would help greatly.

Try running a competition with a small financial incentive ....

I run

Caption Competition
Photoshop Competition
Members car of the month competition

A book could be written on the subject. But rather than good too in depth, I'll give you a few brief ideas, and you can PM me if you want/need more info:

*Competitions. Anything run should require a minimum post count, but not an overly high one, as higher numbers lead to more low-quality trash (aka spam).

*SEO. Its always a factor. Better PR means more hits. More hits translates to more members, who will become active if you give them a reason to.

*Proactive Promotion. Use things like Board Tracker and myspace.

*Forum Reviews. Post them in webmaster communities so that people see your link.

*Posting Programs. Check out the Forum Incubator over at Best-board.com for starters.

*Ads. If well targeted, they can be a great investment.

*Good Staff. Make sure to reward them if you expect loyalty.

*Link Exchanges. Works best with another semi-related forum.

You can try signature advertising!

Go to forums that are similar to ur site and post there with the signature having ur link in it!

Thats signature advertising and works!
You can try doing SEO for your site.. that brings natural traffic or hire seo experts to do work!

with regards to paid posting, have you tried forumbooster.net?

promotion is also a big factor in promoting forums, advertising in links, posting your link in the signatures of forums, SEO is also very useful.

Even though I haven't looked at your forum I'm sure that the main reason for no increase of activity even though the unique visitors have increased is because of the lack of activity in the first place. You may be getting a lot of unique visitors to your forum, however if you don't have new posts on your forum then they are unlikely to want to register. The way that you get new posts on your forum is by posting a lot yourself so that when your members come back to the forum they have something new to reply to and are therefore more likely to register at your board.

I'm in the business of paid posting myself and i'm sorry that you have had a bad experience with such a company, trust me they are not all that bad, there are companies that will provide you will the quality that you deserve. If you wish I can give you a free trial of my paid posting, to contact me via PM or support@forumadvance.com
