Well.. what exactly is your génre going to be? What are you interested in putting a forum online about...? what are your skills...?

Very difficult to provide any info without you providing more for peeps to go on.

As a starter for 10, how about

www.ihavenoidea.com
www.whattochoose.com
www.anythingwilldo.com
www.idontmind.com
www.echowhosaidthat.com

;)

Well what I am looking for is inspiration! also if you provide a genre for my forum then could you post a domain to go with that genre!

Thats what I want people to do (like I mentioned in my first post), also the board can be about anything really. I need a matter of opinion of what the public like, along to go with a domain!

thnx

As I said, you need to decide based on what you are good at and where your expertise lies. I have no idea how old you are, so to suggest a teen forum may be innapropriate; I have no idea if you are in college - so to suggest a college/student community might also not work. Are you into cars? I don't know... how about animals or plants.... hmmmm best not suggest anything there as you might not like them. OK, how about a sciene based community, say www.myrelativity.com - then again you, like me, may not be a genius.

How about chocolate discussion, or tissues, or even mice... lottery discussions, flowers, watches and tables... all could do with pragmatic debate.

But... coming back to what I mentioned - to help you and to provide sensible suggestions as to what you might wish to start a community on, you need toi at the very least give us some clue...

You can't critique my suggestions as I have absolutely no idea where your interests lie.

I don't want my own interests, I want public interest. :p
Some thing that the majority would will like... a new idea! some thing that will attract some one! I like the Topic of religion and debating, but if I were to open a forum like that I may not get many people to join up because they may not like it (the genre of the site), I just want to know what the public internet surfers like. A long to go with a nifty domain name that will go with the genre of the board.

So I came here and I made a post, to ask webmasters about my situation, I need ideas really, just name some, I just want to pick the best idea, meaning its the publics idea, and I like that public opinion so I shall follow through with that idea.

The only idea I can think of is a religion and debate forum, where you can discuss if religion is real etc.. and discuss faults in religion, but I noticed that could soon die out, mainly because answers and questions are limited especially answers.

My Idea of a religion and debate forum would be as a domain (http://religioustalk.com/)

To be honest I dont mind if it is another genre I just want to try and attract the right people, I wouldn't mind a games forum were we discussed games and reviewed them, but their are TOO many games forums out their, and cars forum wouldn't get that farr I dont think so yeah. :(

Help!

Another thing to consider is if there are already a plethora of forums out there covering your chosen material.

Really... I appreciate you are looking for inspiration, but you are the one who needs to find that, not anyone here. We cna help you with setting up, SEO, promotion, hacks, styles, monetising etc... but to determine which niche you want to operate within has to come from you.

You don't necessarily need expertise in your area, but if you don't have that for your chosen subject you will need to find someone who would be able to field and answer questions from new members.

There's so much you need to think about it is somewhat unfair to expect to come onto any site and get the membership there to be your inspiration and do all the work for you.

Give some input.... come one...

Maybe take the Religion Forums a stage further. Have a look at what is already out there, use google, yahoo etc to find other religious forums and what they do, and importantly - if there is room for yet another one.

I hear what you're saying but I need a really good idea, a general forum is what I do not want, I have no clue in my expertise I am not good at graphics so a GFX forum is out of the question.

But dont you think a religious forum is a bit boring, ok then my question what forum would you like to see?

And I am going to get this skin: http://www.vbstyles.com/forum/?styleid=142

It has nothing to do with what we want. Looking to webmaster forums for members is not going to grow your forum nor set the topic.

The topic you choose needs to be one you can nurture by partipating. Forums don't just happen.

To reiterate that which has already been said, you can't expect us to brainstorm for you. This board helps webmasters who use vB set up, run, and promote their boards. But the board itself must be a product of your own thought. Besides, if somebody here had a truely groundbreaking idea, why would they just share it with you instead of implementing it themselves?
