View Full Version : I'm banned at TAZ ?? why

hey guys, I'm getting a little irritated at TAZ,, I've done nothing but tried to help new admins there, and the other day when I log on i get page not displayed, so I just thought maybe there site was down. So I ask a friend if he knew why the site was down and he said he could see it fine
So I look at the site with a proxy and yup, sure enough the site was up..
so I clear my cookies and all that stuff and I could see the site.. So i start to login and there it went, 404 again...
so a day passes and i decided I'll just register a new name, and then pm the admin and ask what happen.. So today I did that, and sent a pm to the admin, he was online so I thought it would be a quick reply, but nothing, so I make my rounds on some other sites, do some work to my site, and try and go back on the new name i made,, and what do ya think i seen/./ 404 again...
so I make a 3rd name,, this time I sent admin an email,, we'll see if they say anything back, but I'm sure next time i look I'll be banned again  with the reason !!
so what choice do i have ?? basically make a 4th name * now understand I would just rather use my first original name, like i have here.. loco.m* and never make a post, just read..
I think the site has some great info, and I've learned from it already, but i do like to help.. but anytime I post I get banned, with still no explanation...
so if TAZ admin or staff see this please post the reason why I keep getting banned,, as I said I've never said or done anything wrong on that site.. In fact I don't think I've ever said anything negative to anyone on any webmaster/admin site.. such as vbw...
just my rant I guess,, but the way it looks, I'll never make another post on TAZ again, unfortunately :(

Look at it this way, now you don't have to be embarressed by the association.
Do you see any cutting edge news or help coming out of there you can't get better in several of the other vB admin forums?
Don't sweat it, you've been given your ticket to grow unstiffled now. Run with it and don't look back. You've graduated from the kiddie pool and found the adult swim.
Cheers.

hehe, ya know, this happens over there on a regular basis. So I have to say, I'm not surprised you brought this here. Although ya coulda went just about anywhere.
But honestly, they have nothing you need worry that you are missing.
As far as their game, I've put them in thier place over and over in debates. We've had our useless ****ing matches. The ONLY time they win a ****ing match is by taking it to vBulletin.com and getting Wayne Luke to play moderator against you there. Wayne Luke is my idol!
However, I am annoyed you couldn't see this coming and stayed there amoung them as they did it to others and you sat there thinking you were exempt.
You are not the first and won't be the last. Those is the past could have predicted it, those that it will happen too have yet another example to see what's on the horizon when they do not choose alliances carefully.

last night i pm'd the sandman guy at vb.org, then this morning i get this reply
You are not welcome at TAZ. I suggest you use BB Refuge and AdminNation for your forum administrator discussions. gprime can be your sandman.
I don't get it ?? apparently because I've talked to gprime, I get banned from TAZ  guess I'll end um making a 4th name if i choose to read any post there..
note to anyone going to TAZ.. don't make friends with any other webmaster on other sites,, you'll get banned..
This is just silly, that I get banned from a webmaster site, apparently because I've talked to gprime at best-boards.com.. oh BTW I've never even heard of adminnation ?..lol
this sandman guy is a real tool..
I hope no other admins take after him, and ban users because they are member at other webmaster sites. :(

Again, I'm shocked you are surprised. There are perhaps dozens this has happened too.
Listen, move on. Clicks will come and go. No big deal. You just don't want to be around them when they go.
Hell, sandman is a part time webmaster. What can he teach you, how to put members to sleep? Do you need advice from someone that can't make it in this business full time?
Your banning is a measure of success. You are now a threat with your expanded knowledge.
Think about it. ;)

What is TAZ?
A forum run by some Jelsoft employees under the watchful eye of the aforementioned sandman.
They have phpbb and other forum software support forums.

ya, your right, I'm not worried about this,, vbw has better info then they ever did anyways, and thats just in the articles u have here..
I was shocked this happen, as i had never read about this happening to anyone just by association..
anyways I'm moving on, thanks for letting me talk about this,, it did make me feel better :p

They haven't banned me (yet) but knowing that this has happened to a few people here, I stopped posting or even reading there, a while ago. I want nothing to do with those kinds of people. And now that one of sandman's cronies has taken over Best-Boards, I doubt I'll be there much either.
That's ok, I'd rather come here and support a site that's strictly VB, and the people have been more than helpful to me.

why on earth would you be annoyed with Loco? Those of us who are not "in the know" didn't know about all this stuff, so naturally wouldn't have seen this coming. I doubt very much that he "sat there among them as they did it to others, thinking he was exempt"... I doubt he thought about it at all... I know I sure didn't, since we weren't privy to this information.

I dont want to see this end up as a TAZ bashing thread. TAZ itself could be a good site, but unfortunately is under the control of Sandman - who is paranoid in my opinion, of any competition. I dont think he ever got the idea that the vBulletin community is just a bit larger then "his" site.

I dunno where you got that idea from?
I didn't say annoyed, I said surprised. This has been happening to people at TAZ since they opened the doors. It's not just VBW members, but there have been many VBW members involved is such childness from TAZ. At least now yo can say, they warned me when you get the big picture. Apparently Loco didn't see the writing on the wall.
The ****ing matches they have started on other forums can be found in the search engines if you try hard. Oh, except for the places thet went and had all theri losing battles deleted. It seems alot of their crap just disappears.
Go over to vBulletin and search. You will see TAZ badgering Jelsoft customers. And I mean blatantly, and then, usually, Wayne Luke defends TAZ. Closes the members thread and you feel lile a red headed step child for saying anything and getting admonished. Only to see a TAZ mod act like a a jerk again and nothing happens.
I stopped posting a long time ago. I only have 3 licenses. But for now I need them. However, there will be a bulletin board better then vB in the near future. When there is, I'll give it a good look. If the support is run by mature adults and not a club like atmosphere, I'll switch software.
The day is coming. No one stays on top forever!
P.S. No Sandy, no Wayne, I won't get over this. I'm just glad to have places I can post where you can't ban me or close my threads after demeaning me so I can't defend myself, or just plain make the threads disappear. Now count down slowly from 100 backwards...

You wanted an open forum where your thread would not be closed and you could get this off your chest.
But, the price is, it stays open. And, like you, anyone involved can post their opposing views.

Yes you did say annoyed sweetie.... I was referring to this comment in my post:
<edited for brievity>

as I said, I didn't see it either. Possibly because we weren't paying attention to others' childishness, but were there to learn something.

1) Yeah, it's annoying when you've been around it as long as I have. But yes, I did word that wrong. I'm annoyed it happened, yet again. I'm disappointed that new folks get sucked into it that have no idea they are paranoid over there or why or how they got sucked in!
2) That reinforces my last sentence above. As well as justifies you getting me to correct the above. That's exaclty what Loco was apparently doing and he got sucked in and pushed out.
Go figure!

Cool glad we got that straightened out. Well, I'm just sticking to this site and hope we can get it back up and hopping like it was when I first signed on.
I'm pretty much backing out of Best-Boards too, since it's looking like the same crowd from TAZ

Well, some forums have folks that sit around and talk about what to do and they seem more active. But those people are not making money I bet. ;)
I want this place to be busy, but not at the expense of people not being productive.
When someone comes here and asks a question, says thanks and never returns, that's just fine, it shows success on both ends.
I've said it before, so here it goes again. vBulletin survives on alot of kids that buy for the first time with mommies credit card. That's the mentality you deal with. It's their bread and butter. They cater to it.
It's hard to conduct professional business in that atmosphere. I'm sure you've see what I mean. If they admonish the kids, the bread and butter goes away. But us professionals get treated like we are over a barrel, like we'll stay no matter what, we are in it for the money and will be back. We don't need to get nurtured.
I resent the hell out of that!

It's a big wide world out there and I have enough stress in real life...I don't need more of it in the cyber world. I have enough to do being on guard for the masses that want to rip me and chasing down the one's who have to bother with "As the World Turns". I'm not saying that everyone's points aren't taken and probably valid, but some things in life you just have to let go.

Hmmm ... what an interesting thread this is.
I'm a new chum and I've never heard of TAZ. But I have heard of vBulletin, of course, or I wouldn't be here.
If I may say so, I have had a warm reception here and a helpful response. Thanks for that, guys and gals. I really don't see much point in the kind of puerile tactics being written about here. Silly really. I agree with the advice given to Loco. If you can't stand the heat ....
I love my websites. I'm sure we all do. They are a powerful; communication tool. And vB made my BB relatively simple for a novice like me to set up. I'm grateful for that. So far, apart from an initial misunderstanding, I've had no problems with vBbackup either. Not that I've used it much yet. I'm planning on getting another vB licence in the near future.
IMHO, life's too short for picking UNNECESSARY fights ... but I'd be a bit miffed if what happened to Loco had happened to me. Ah well ... takes all sorts I guess.

I stay away from the places that these things may occur at. However, if I've been there done that, I enjoy using a few sentences to get it off my chest.

The admins and "inner circle" are.... well....... I'll say no more ;)

It's a right of passge. They are showing their respect to you.
Once you have been here, you no longer need their help and they bless you by banning you. It's like a mother weening a child. It's purely nature.
