Transactions going bad in second hand sales forum...

Members that have been ripped of by other members are wanting me to take action...

But..

Its impossible to get to the truth in many situations

I am thinking of making it compulsory to pay via ebay micro payments to post the secondhand forum.. to somehow elevate security ????? (and make money)

Why should I care or devote my time to forum members that have let themselves be ripped off?

I do feel for them..

However EACH person with a problem then expects the whole 16,000 member community to care about thier problem, are posting up demands that moderators & admin take action..etc etc

Managing all this is becoming a PITA.

Any ideas

Disclaimer wording?

Suggestions?

What are you folks with big forums with classifieds sections doing?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have a classifieds section but maybe add a sticky in the forum for rules if you don't already have one.

Fraud and Deception:

Buyer Beware - Any attempts to defraud or deceive our members may result in your account being suspended. This includes selling or attempting to sell licenses, etc. without explicit ownership or permission to do so. In some cases this may result in banning the buyer and seller.

We are not associated with or represent any sellers on this forum.

edit the newthread and new post templates to show the rule at the top of the posting form when a new thread or post is being made in that forum and turn off quick reply for that forum.

Maybe that will help get the message across. Making dishonest people honest is another task. :/

Good luck.

Another good suggestion!

I like that one!

Any tips for how to find the code to edit?

Thanks a mill!

What we always did was have a sticky that would see beware of these users or something like that. Basically what that allows is for the drama to be reserved in one topic as well as let the users know who to watch out for. It also makes you look proactive because you are setting up a post to allow users to vent their issues.

What if one of the alleged bad traders - then gets in touch and says - "I demand that you take this slanderous statement off your website - it is all lies and is ruining my business and I am gonna get a lawyer on your a** about it tomorrow"

What do you do about that then?

(we do have a disclaimer)

(say forget the legal threats - what if it IS all lies)

Thanks in advance
