Gary... assuming that you're talking about your config.php file, between the ' and the ' where it says forum, is where your database name goes.
as for the table prefix, again between the ' and the ' I have vb_
I hope this helps

No, that is the server setting. the DB name and how to get it depends on your hosting management package. Is it cpanel?

Right just pressed the database creation
The MySQL Database Creation Wizard Step 1
The first step of the MySQL database creation wizard allows you to create a database. In the Name of database field enter the name of the database you are creating. This name will be used later when you connect to the database from any database client or tool. The Database description field allows you to provide a short description of the database. This description is used only in the control panel to remind you of the purpose of this database.
Name of database *****_blank
Database description _blank
-------------------------------------
So were the Blanks are at the bottom do i just put in there, what ever as long as i put the same in vbulletin ? like in here $config['Database']['dbname'] = 'forum';

you can delete that stuff Gary..
if it was there already, just delete everything in side the public_html folder..
sometimes a host will have some files in there as a default, nothing to important..
I'll be around this morning Gary, I seen you added me to msn, hopefully we can get you setup this morning :)

Those look like home folder files. Better make sure he is navagating correctly before ya make him hit any buttons. That there linux don't have a trash bin to recover files at the CLI.

ya, true.. but I'm pretty sure that if the host put any files or folders in the public_html they can be deleted..
at least when ever I setup a new account, the new account will have some files under the public_html and I always delete them b4 uploading the new script.
if your not sure, then don't delete them ;) better safe then sorry.. they shouldn't hurt you if they are there already
