I have added my site in DMOZ before around 6 months but it is not yet in DMOZ. Should I add it Again?

I think I've heard that they push your site even farther down in the queue if you submit more than once. Be patient and you'll be rewarded.

Any clue if you are notified if your site is rejected?

1. my general advice is submit once abd forget about it - a DMOZ listing has no more value than a good link from another website

2. resubmitting does add the latest time-stamp, I understand, but most editors do not seem to go through the "queue" by order of submission anyway, but rather by whatever catches their eyes - thus there is little evidence that resubmitting will harm you, unless you are doing it to multiple categories very frequently (like weekly or daily), in which case they may blacklist you as a spammer

3. you do not get emails when sites are accepted or rejected

Isn't there plenty of automated programs that they could be using that could give people some kind of feedback almost instantly? It seems like not much must have changed in their programming since their inception.

It would be a very simple thing to do. However, DMOZ editors and administrators have been adamant that they will not implement anything like this. In part, this is paranoia about giving any information that might help the people they view as "spammers", i.e., webmasters who submit sites. In part, it is the entrenched Luddite mentality of many editors and admins, who almost proudly proclaim that they know little about technology or web design.

I have been trying to "suggest" my site since I came across the DMOZ existence here but continue to get this error:

Service Temporarily Unavailable We apologize for the inconvenience while we resolve technical problems. Please check back in a day or two.

Yes. It's down and there's no telling when, if ever, that new submissions will be accepted.

Don't worry a lot about it. The value of a DMOZ listing has long been greatly overrated.

I'd be inclined to agree with you there Minstrel

I think there is something wrong with it, that's for sure!

I did a search for my site there and it said this on the bottom of the page:
Search database last updated on: Fri Oct 13 10:21:04 EDT 2006

Thinking maybe there was a chance the directory was updated & not the search, I was proved wrong by this at the bottom of the listing:
Last update: 19:23 PT, Tuesday, September 12, 2006

Which really kind of sucks seeings how I submitted just a few days after that *sigh*

And of course, they are not accepting editors....

So maybe we, as webmasters, should stand up and start writing nasty letters to the siter sites of DMOZ (including Google) explaining our discontent over the status of a site which is by & for us. Weather it hurts or helps our page rank at this point is nearly moot, as it's now a feature on google (http://directory.google.com/), and as such, people are more then likely using it.

So for each person using DMOZ is a person possibly not finding our sites...
