Problem with spammer

In a forum which I am moderating now, I have noticed one poster who spams by putting on all of his posts the link that he is bring with him. I was about to sent a PM to the Admin but when I reached the site and saw his posts again, was surprised, he's blatantly advertising his link again! I have already deleted many of his threads because it is the only thing that he does and types in. Right now, I have sent a PM to him to stop spamming but I suggested that if he wants, he can put his link on his signature and I also told him to give quality posts next time.

Is what I am doing the right thing? If not, how should have I handled it?

You are definitely doing the right thing, I would keep a very close eye on him. I would personally mention this to the admin and let him decide on what he wants to do with him. If you have already deleted a number of his posts the admin might want to get rid of him now, rather than waiting for him to spam again.

Sometimes, I wonder coz there are job ads that hires somebody to advertise their links on forums. I am thinking that this person might be hired to advertise and in so doing, he's already spamming. Well, I would never know. The important thing, is that he's not spamming anymore coz I have quitted from moderating the forum, at least, he's not that a problem anymore to the ones left.

at least he's not there - bet he cut and ran when you even asked him what the heck was going on!

paid spammers annoy me greatly.

Find out where he/she lives and kill them. It's the only reasonable solution.
