Dealing with Annoying Posters

Hi! For those admin, moderators and posters, have you ever encountered posters who are just so annoying to be true that sometimes you feel like boxing them off :mad:

How do you deal with them?

depends on what they're doing... are they just spamming, or adding to the forum in a negative way by being abrasive?

sometimes a PM will do the trick...

Sometimes it works, sometimes not..its better to just put a ban on them for like an hour to start with....and after that hour has past and they are STILL breaking some rules..then a 24 hour ban is needed....and if he'she continues, a permanent ban is called for.


Edit: Make sure you put a reason....cause the message they will recieve will be something liek this:

You have been banned.

Reason: Breaking (whichever rule)

Ban Time: 1 hour

true - you should inform them of what they've done wrong so they don't just panic or freak and whine more!

What I did was that as a mod, I sent him a PM informing him of his spamming around and that he must not repeat them anymore because it is against the rules. I also suggested that if he wants to advertise, then he puts the link on his signature but also, he must put meaningful and quality posts. It actually worked and he didn't come back to the forum again.

I just drive to their house and break their fingers. No fingers, no typing. It works well.
