RSS Feed list empty!

Hello everyone

I have a question regarding the RSS feed syndication feature in vB. I have enabled it and everything in the admin cp. However, I always keep getting empty feed list with this feed url (which is supposedly global feed list for all boards in the forum):

http://www.example.com/vb/external.php?type=rss2

Note that if I do specify a forumid argument to the externa.php, the feed list is retreived properly for the board (or multiple comma-sepearated boards ids) specified in the argument.

However, this is not practical. It's too difficult and error-prone to specify all forum ids for the argument. I need the above URL to syndicate the latest content in all forum boards.

I'm using v3.6.0 of vB.

Is this possible?

I'd love to help, but I need a real URL. Can you link us to your site?

Thanks

Um, er...

You have one thread. The feed is working fine based on that. Build your content and see what happens.

Did you expect forum titles to appear perhaps?

Agreed, the listing shows when you have new threads, right now seems to be working fine, and later you might want to tweak the cache lifespan according your forum activity, if you have a lot of new threads you might wan to reduce the cache lifespan to 15 minutes or so, there will be a higher use of resources from your RSS feeds but your users will have a more accurate listing whenever they check for updates.

You see, vbulletin caches the listing of new threads to the RSS feed every 60 minutes by default.

So, in that case, every hour, the listing is updated.

If you have a very active forum, you can, if you like, reduce the time needed to update that listing. It will put a higher stress on your resources but you will have a more accurate listing.

You do this by reducing the cache lifespan in the external data provider options (where you activated the RSS feed). Regular forums with no more than 15 new threads every hour can mantain the default, it wont make any difference to reduce the cache lifespan.

AAAH I get it :D

I was testing it by posting a new thread and checking the feed right away. Of couse that didn't work coz the new feed didn't last for an hour which is the default setting for the cachle lifespan. In other words, vB didn't get a chance to build its feed list yet.

All good now. Gotta love the feed.

Oh, and this forum too

Thanks everybody.
