So i did the import last night and it went 70% ok...it looks like everything got imported but when i started to move threads to their proper forum etc, that was easy enough BUT upon closer inspection i see that the thread was moved BUT NOT the posts...so it say a thread has 5 replies BUT the original post and replies are gone.
so i found the "missing" posts...somehow they go all bunched in 1 thread...there are like 300 responses to 1 thread. how do i move the posts to the right thread?
ahhh...i want to scream!

go into the thread with all the posts, select the posts you want to move (they each have a checkbox in the top right corner) and then at the bottom of the thread there should be a dropdown menu called Moderation, with various options. one of those is "move posts". click that, then choose where you want them to go, and there you have it!
(that's from memory, so apologies if it's missing a bit of detail! lol)

This happened to me too when my phpbb forum was imported over to vB. Some imports go smooth as silk, some don't for whatever reason.

I'm a little late with this advice but you might have been further ahead to wipe the database and repeat the import - it may simply have stalled.

every cloud has a silver lining tho, cos like you say it's giving you the chnce to dump some rubbish too. :)
