Logging into ACP

After I log into my board and then want to go into ACP, I have to re-login. Is there a way that after I log into my board that when I click on the Admin link that it will just log me in w/o asking me for a username and password?

I don't think ya want to do that, it's a security feature. Imagine if that were the case and there was no cookie timeout for the ACP and you left your computer un-attended? :eek:

While your computer may seem secure, many folks use external computers. Don't expect this to ever change.

However, that's not to say it can't be done, I just don't know the code to make a suggestion.

Good point, but it's a big pain when I have to test. I better leave well enough alone. :p I'll just deal with it.

Yup, as much as that double login annoys me I wouldn't disable it. :)

It would be nice if the admin CP could have a seperate password than the actual user account though.

Worse, how about when one logs into the forum under another name to test while in the APC as their nomal admin name and gets logged out of the ACP because of the cookies. That's a PITA!

Yeah, using another browser is one solution, but falls short when testing rendering. :rolleyes:

i dont want to jinx you but the upgrade was surprisingly easy...i did it without DH...none of my hacks were screwed up or anything.

Did you install 3.6 from scratch and then did the 3.6.1 upgrade? If so, then that's different. I'm going from 3.5.4 to 3.6.1 and I have redo my hacks and upgrade my styles too. Peggy is going to help me.

That is a big jump. I have only done one of mine so far. There are alot of considerations to make. Good luck, let us know of any pitfalls you identify from public mods.

You'll be ok Tanya. I upgraded a 3.5.4 forum on Tuesday to 3.6.1. BUT they had only 5 hacks. You've got a bucket-full! :eek:

Not at all, they just think they own the board too so they want to know what's going on and I try to do a good job by documenting everything I do.
