Why?

Every single post/thread on your index page contains spelling and grammatical errors. If you don't care enough about your forum even make a token attempt to communicate well, why should anyone care enough to join?

Well, thats a little harsh sounding tgreer.

It looks like he has his latest forum posts on the homepage. This will always cause problems because members cant spell and make typos all thhe time.

Consider just having a Front Page News forum where only You can make posts. That might help.

Yes, that did sound harsh. I thought about revising/deleting my post after I wrote it, but then changed my mind. Let the chips fall where they may, perhaps get an interesting thread going, etc. you know?

I have to reinforce though, how big of a "turn-off" poor spelling/grammar & l33t sp33k is for me and most career IT or professional-level people. I participate in and even moderate on several tech forums, and it's reached a point where I won't even answer certain posts because of their incomprehensibility.

It's not only "professional-level" people that grammatical and spelling errors are a turn-off to. There are just nicer ways of getting the point across ;)

That said... I do agree with you, lol.

It looks good and while some of the forum descriptions have mistakes it's just a matter of having a second set of eyes proof read them. I'm not your target market so won't make any comments about the content or subject matter.

If RSS was turned on it would fit well into the gaming (http://www.top100vbulletin.com/7) section of my directory ;) Let me know if you would like to be added.

But if sarahk checks your site out and posts an e-mail to you advising of a little problem that you were well aware of, had already posted about on site, and were trying desperately to get fixed well before she happened along, don't expect to ever hear from her again, even if she added to your membership stats and said not a word on your site. Sheesh ... these Kiwis ... I don't know! Manners, Sara King ... manners. :D :D

Oh, and she won't add your site anyways ... and tell that to someone who gives a damn?

Sorry darlin' ... but that's the way it is: unless your reply and your promised addition somehow got lost in the ether.

Yep, Mike lost in the ether.

I'd "hidden" it until I heard back, it's visible now.

I'd "hidden" it until I heard back, it's visible now. Why, thank you Sarah.

Without any disrespect intended, you heard back within an hour or two of your registering on my site and sending me the said e-mail. But it matters not.

Although my family were head over heels when they heard that you had offered to show the site in your Top100 listings, it is not a site ever likely to do well or reach the dizzy heights of the the Top100 vB sites. Why? Simply because SEO and rankings are not important to me because I am not marketing anything, just protesting.

The attention I get from search engines was triggered not by links from other sites but by advertising campaigns that cost my backers dearly. Once the spiders had done their work, and they have certainly been vigorous on my site, I presume it rates on its content alone.

The content is highly controversial and niche topical in that it deals with my protest against education standards in the UK and, in particular, against one of two universities I attended as a mature undergraduate law student after I retired from my career as an airline pilot. The first uni, the University of Wolverhampton, lied to me about its course, failed to provide teaching services it contracted to provide, and generally caused me enormous grief.

The second uni, the University of Bristol (ranked as one of the top ten law schools in the country), was the opposite in that it delivered everything it promised - and then some. It was a wonderful experience to be taught there.

It is sufficient to now say that I took legal action against the University of Wolverhampton and the outcome of my first action was widely applauded both in the media and in academic circles. The second case resulted from Wolves Uni involving itself in accusations against me as to fraud and allegations as to my being a 'sociopath' and 'mentally ill'. The outcome of that was different in that the university spent about £140,000 to engage lawyers to have my case struck out before it even filed a Defence. Thus, I failed to achieve the desired outcome on technical grounds. It should be emphasised that I am not a lawyer - thanks to the university of wolves - only an airline pilot with a little legal learning.

The website is out there to do no more than inform the UK public and to give some pretty hard-earned guidance to others who may find themselves in the same boat (of which I do assure you there are many now and likely to be many more in the near future).

So, if the site achieves anything more than providing that info and that guidance, I am happy. It is not intended to make profit or become a star rated site.

Thank you for fulfilling your offer to place the site in your list. I ask no more than that you do what you offered to do. Remember, I did not ask you to do that. I greatly respect those who go through with, fulfil, their offers and promises. I cannot stand in the company of those who lie, make wild promises, or enter into commitments that they later just deny or forget about. That's all my site is about. And it is what I am about, really. If that makes me a fraudster, a sociopath, or mentally ill, then I guess I'll just have to wear the labels.

Best wishes

Peggy

No disrespect intended here... but it is very possible that she didn't hear back from you Mike, whether you sent it or not. We've had that happen between us, remember? The email/pm gremlins on the loose again.

roll your eyes all you want to. This is cyber space. Emails DO get lost, as well as private messages and Instant messages. I know that from experience and so do you.
You and I have sent messages that the other never received, so you know as well as I do that it happens

Look, upsetting one lady is one more than I want to achieve in any day. Since I appear to have upset two, it requires apologies from me and my polite withdrawal from the scene.

Sarah King and Peggy: I am so sorry to have offended you. Please accept my most humble apologies. As my punishment, I suggest that you, Sarah, remove my website from your Top100 vB sites once and for all and never list it again. And you, Peg, might do me the favour of removing my membership rights on Exquisitely Erotic.

I will then feel suitably chastised - but I WILL get over it, I promise.

Peggy

you haven't upset me at all, not about this. And I certainly see no reason for you to be, or for you to feel that you should be, chastised, lol.
I really think you're overreacting, but if that's truly what you want...

Sheesh, I'm totally confused. A girl goes out of town for a day and suddenly all hell breaks loose.

The way I see it is I signed up at the forum and sent Mike this email
Ummm, can't login

think I found the site via vbulletin-faq.com or something like that and wanted to add it to my directory at www.top100vbulletin.com - but after I added it the rss feed wouldn't work. OK if I call it from the browser but from my site or feedburner.com it timesout.

let me know if you can sort that out and i'll set your listing live.

thanks

Hiya Sarah

Thought I recognised you from vB-FAQ and, when I saw you had registered on EI, I was delighted. Welcome, especially as you are our first member from NZ.

The problem you have in logging in may be one of two things - sorry for that, btw.

First, it may be caused by our server. The host is having some difficulties and the site (and all the hosts servers) are up and down like the proverbial you know what.

Second, it may be that, like one or two others (including my wife, Jeannette), you log in and are in fact logged on but for some yet unexplained reason (John is working on it), the homepage doesn't show you as logged in until you click on the 'Forums' button and are taken to the forums/index page. Once there, you get the Welcome message. Strangley, if you then go back to the homepage (click on 'Home' in the navbar) you will then be shown as logged in. This is most annoying and we do most humbly apologise to you for it.

As you will see, our little site is new but doing quite well (headed for 400,000 hits this month from 20 different countries so far).

Please forgive us for the log in difficulty. We assure you we know about it and are waiting desperately for John (he's Admin at vB-FAQ and on our site) to resolve it.

Very kindest regards

Mike Austen (aka Biggles LLB and/or The Skipper)but I never got an email explaining that the RSS issue was sorted out.

As for removing your site from the directory. Can't see why I'd want to do that. Any forum that meets our criteria is welcome and any inbound link is a good link. It's over to you Mike but I can see no long term problems here :)

However this is a major thread hijack, and not what anyone intended. Sorry Juanto.
