My Website Rules

Some rules, which sometimes I think should be removed and other times think they should remain. I want open discussion within reason and it's hard, but at least with rules you can fall back on them: http://www.talkbritain.co.uk/faq.php?faq=vb_faq#faq_rules

The only problem with roolz is some people will break them. Lets face it, most of us live by them but also break a few along the way.

We have found it best to employ a near Zero Tolerance.
Simple roolz, the rest is common sense, courtesy, decency, call it what you will.
If a member steps oversteps the mark, banned.

While I see and agree with your point, protoss, I do think it helpful to spell out the expectations for members, if only that one can then point to the rules when issuing warnings or infractions.

I like the format of your rules, Neal. I hope you don't object to my swiping/adapting some of them to add to the basic rules for my forum. :)

Thanks. Have a look at my adaptation at http://forum.psychlinks.ca/faq.php and swipe back as you wish. :)

Neal: How did you add the rules to the FAQ ?? Very nice.
Our rules (from phpBB installation) are still contained in a post. Forum Rules.

Also would like to lift this one please.

protoss, I don't know about version 3.5x but in 3.6x you just go to Admin CP | FAQ | Add new FAQ item and add in what you want. You can set the order of the new item so it appears either before or after the standard. I have the stabdard FAQ items set to order = 100 and then Basic Rules = 1 and General Rules = 2.

Use standard HTML for bolding, font, color, paragraphs, etc.

Yes, the option is there in 3.5.4, thanks minstrel. Looks like I have a bit of work this weekend. :)

That's the way to do it protoss, as minstrel says. Of course you may use them, no problems at all.

When I see posts like that, I must say I'm reminded of the old gag about "Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket?".

I agree with Minstrel. We spell it out, too, over at B2W.

As long as it's not down over 10 mins I'm cool. I've come from two horrid hosts previously. I'm content.

Rules are necessary but I have noticed most forum users will never break them purposely however, you got to set your rules and expectations for the A-holes out there that will show their unwanted faces regardless ....

Just a fact of forum life .

Neal, I've sent you my $300 also :D

I rather like a free-for-all forum myself :frog:

Well - I recant - extreme profanity and nudity needs to be kept private - gotta protect the kiddies.
