Digg + competence

Hi everyone.

I've just posted an article on my forum on "Competence" here (http://www.theforumsa.co.za/index.php?page=issue-5). It might be worth the read. In fact, given the respect I have for many of you, I wouldn't mind your comments on the article too!!!

But the main reason for my post is that one of my more enthusiastic members is trying to stir up a Digg storm - because he feels the article is that good, and because he knows it will generate traffic.

Good idea? Bad idea?

I don't think we have the numbers to make it succeed on our own anyway. His stir is in the "Comment on this article" link at the bottom.

Your thoughts, please.

Ultimately, I dont think DIGG will be a long term help to many sites that stir up a Digg Storm. Sure, you can get a ton of hits in the short term, but long term I doubt most of those people will return.

I think that's true. The main impact of a Digg "hit" is probably to crash your server for a day or two. Then all goes back to normal.
