matviy 10-26-2006, 12:29 AM I just finished setting up my site. I'm using vBulletin 3.5.4 and vBadvanced. I tried installing some VB skins and make them work with vBadvance, but it didnt go verry well. See for yourself

The forum is supposed to be about general discussions, spam, chaos, and anarchy. I tried to get a skin thats not to fancy, and not too default-monotone-ish.
I really like THIS (www.mpcforum.com) skin. But, alas, its about $30. So do you have any suggestions? Hook me up with a skin thats not too bad and not too electric-reflecting-round-shiny stuff. Thanks in advance.
Big Dan 10-26-2006, 05:16 AM Check out the templates available here in the vBulletin Skins & Styles (ver 3.5x) (http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14) forum. Miner (http://www.minerskinz.com) has a lot of awesome skins too.
May I ask why you're running 3.5.4? vB 3.6 has a lot more functionality.
matviy 10-26-2006, 03:34 PM Well, in new to vBulletin and all the options already scare me. Too much functionallity. But, of course, its probably just because im new. Im new at web development and basically new to this whole scene.;)
Im sticking with 3.5.4 because i got it from a friend and im not exacly sure that it's *cough* legal *cough* Im trying to find out and i might buy my own licence if this is a fake one.
And im going to check out all the skins miner made, thanks. Though i cant seem to get them to work well with vBadvance. I'll mess around with it.
Hell³ 10-26-2006, 04:33 PM Find out, even if it's legal and you want to stay in the 3.5 branch you should upgrade to 3.5.5
protoss 10-26-2006, 06:41 PM Beware!!. May well be disguised spam.

From viewing your site, I can tell you that none of that style's images have been uploaded to the proper place.
Other than that you should make sure your license is legit.
matviy 10-26-2006, 07:19 PM Ye its legit.
O and im having some other problems. I have vBadvanced installed. I install the template and i have to change all the image paths to /images/misc/blah blah, to forums/images/misc/blah blah or it will never find the file. Doing makes the skin go onto the first page perfectly. But now when i go to the forum it cannot find the images. Its looking in www.centerofadonut.com/forums/forums/images/misc/blah blah.
Its applying the prefix forum/. Causing an error and it dosn't find the files (.bmps). I could copy the Image file but it annoys me. Its un-proffesional and certainly dosn't "optimize" the performance of my site.
So what do i do? Ne ideas?

The easiest way to explain this is the image paths are realitve to your forum URL. vB already "knows" where it is. Remove the /forums from your stylevars and that should fix you up.
matviy 10-26-2006, 08:54 PM When i remove it, the forum starts working perfectly. But vBadvance doesn't. Half of it loads and the rest is covered in X's (no image)
Hell³ 10-26-2006, 08:59 PM remove the prefixes as it's been said, then run again the installation script of vbadvanced, that will take care of the image paths.
matviy 10-26-2006, 09:26 PM EDIT: I installed a new template and it didn't work for a while. Then i fiddled with it a little bit and it just worked. I didn't really alter any settings. Check out the site now. www.centerofadonut.com
Can anybody make me a banner for the site? I have photoshop on my other comp, but im not that good. Nothing big, just to fill in that gap that says Your Site.com
One more thing, how can i put an add (or two) right here:
[[Register FAQ Members list Calendar Today's Post Search]]
ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD
And one at the bottom of the site.
Heh im asking too many questions, thanks in advance.
