I had attempted to do this once, but not too many people wanted to exchange links with an adult site. I just may attempt it again in the near future.

You need some PR before most people will even consider it. Try to list in some directories for starters.

I dont know why people would have trouble though, your adult content isnt visible until registration.

the fact that it's an adult site at all bothers the hell out of most people. I'm listed in three directories, been turned down by at least a dozen, lol.

I prefer to get the 1 way links myself, and I would only exchange with sites that are on topic with yours.

Most of my posters are actually refugees from a forum I left that had a huge adult section. ;)

no no... I was letting you know that anytime I link with someone's site, their link goes on my forumhome page, at the bottom. and that page is a PR5.

PR meaning page rank by Google, on a scale of 1 - 10

Really any PR < 5 isn't all that great. I haven't even looked at mine yet, I'm sure it's like -10. LOL :P I haven't done any SEO yet.

I have to disagree with you Danny... PR 5 is pretty darn good. Of course, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are better, but PR5 is nothing to balk over either.
