I have the google toolbar, and it read 4/10. oh well, what's one rank, lol Loco.M 08-01-2006, 06:58 PM http://www.seologs.com/pr-check/pagerank-dc.html ya, i guess some data centers show a 4, some show a 5 :( I'm going to be a bit bumbed out if it goes down with the next update, considering I will have 300+ more backlinks that last update.. oh well... maybe I should sell it..lol Peggy 08-01-2006, 10:18 PM don't you dare, lol. Hell EE was a PR 5, now a 0......I hate google  Peggy 08-01-2006, 10:38 PM btw I downloaded that submit helper and can't figure out how to use it, LOL Loco.M 08-01-2006, 11:27 PM ya, i had the same issue..I couldn't figer it out either,, but,, I can help you out some Peggy :) I have this program called Internet Business Promoter. I can send you a copy if u want or.. send me a pm with some info like (site info) Title: keywords: description: category your site would be in: ^I can prolly figure that one out. and email: this will need to be a email you check cuz you'll get some "confirm this link" emails.. this program will submit to a couple 100 search engines, and has a tool to help submit to directories... here is a link that will explain what the prog can do http://www.axandra-web-site-promotion-software-tool.com/index.htm like I said, I have the file if you want to "test" it ;) don't you dare, lol. Hell EE was a PR 5, now a 0......I hate google  oh, I wouldn't... I have to hold on to it for at least the end of the year since I sold some footer links until then...:D Peggy 08-02-2006, 12:32 AM THANKS Brandon! I'll get back to you on this when I get up in the morning. oh wait.... it IS in the morning. crap, I gotta get sum sleep..... semann 08-12-2006, 09:44 AM PS: a very good way to get listed in Search Engines without submitting in Directories is adding your link to forum signatures Peggy 08-12-2006, 01:39 PM I have my link in sigs on every forum I'm on. But submitting to directories is a must, IMO RC Attacker 09-03-2006, 03:49 PM Wow this is a great thread, thanks so much! I'm going to submit to all (and some) and see if i get more traffic, think I will? Just one question, what does (recip link required) mean? EDIT: If you want you can add http://www.grandeforum.com/ I think it's new, and free. RC Attacker 09-03-2006, 03:54 PM I have my link in sigs on every forum I'm on. But submitting to directories is a must, IMO Me too! Every single one. And I'm on A LOT of forums.....they are my life. I'm now on my way to adding my forum to every single free directory I can find. Do you think it will do me any good? I also managed to get on Google....but it only comes up if you type RC Attacker which is the name of the site. How do you get on Google anyway? Does it just go on if the forum gets big? Peggy 09-03-2006, 04:58 PM go to google.com and submit your site to the search engine. YES it absolutely does help to add your site to directories. Also, go through all the SEO tips on this site, and do every one of them that you can. It all helps. RC Attacker 09-03-2006, 05:17 PM Wow! I just added my site to at least 20 directories and still going. I have my hops up real high after this. Is the Google thing free? noppid 09-03-2006, 05:20 PM Don't expect instant gratification. It can take months, even years to drive traffic. However, this a a good way to work and work ofter. Don't give up. Paid advertising is worth while if you have something to monetize. Watch out for promises and snake oil when offered a service. ;) Peggy 09-03-2006, 06:14 PM One of the best sites I've found for seo, search engine submitting, and much more, www.ineedhits.com (http://www.ineedhits.com) check it out, and look for the free services, read the articles, etc I've learned alot of stuff there, as well as here from Joey and noppid ;) RC Attacker 09-03-2006, 06:59 PM Thanks! I'm gonna submit. :) Peggy 09-03-2006, 07:04 PM as noppid said, don't expect anything overnight. It takes time, and alot of hard work, to build a successful forum. But it's worth it ;) RC Attacker 09-03-2006, 07:42 PM Well thanks, that site basically owns. I just submitted to like 30 directories by only filling out my info to one. Now I really have my hopes up being my forum is on at least 50 directories. But I probably have a lot of conformation e-mails to check now.... :( minstrel 09-04-2006, 07:16 AM http://info.vilesilencer.com/ http://www.abilogic.com/ http://www.best-web-directories.com/free-directories.htm http://www.seocompany.ca/directory/web-directories.html RC Attacker 09-04-2006, 10:07 AM Cool, I'm gonna add to those too. RC Attacker 09-05-2006, 01:10 PM What is a reciprocal link? 'Cause I was going to add it to your directory that I never knew you had lol. beller 09-05-2006, 01:14 PM http:www.europe-2008.com has a new free directory Peggy 09-05-2006, 01:18 PM What is a reciprocal link? 'Cause I was going to add it to your directory that I never knew you had lol. A reciprocal link is a link on your site to their site, in exchange for a link to your site on their site. did you get that? lol I think I confused myself  RC Attacker 09-05-2006, 02:05 PM Oh, I get it lol. Thanks for clearing it up. Don't get confused...:p Peggy 09-05-2006, 02:30 PM Oh, I get it lol. Thanks for clearing it up. Don't get confused...:p ha! baby I was born confused http://www.eaglegraphix.com/forum/images/smilies/wacko.gif don't you say it Joey, noppid or minstrel! RC Attacker 09-05-2006, 03:04 PM Lol, I don't link putting random links on my sites. The only ones you will ever see are those 3 rotational banners I have for my friends' forums. Peggy 09-05-2006, 03:34 PM and that's fine, many people are like that. So you'll be limited to the directories that don't require a recip link RC Attacker 09-05-2006, 04:26 PM Yeah, and they just keep coming. I used to like Google for them and would get a bunch of BS. Once I came here I have found and added to at least 60 or so. Thanks VBFAQ! minstrel 09-05-2006, 05:45 PM I have never submitted to any directory that requires payment or a reciprocal link. If I think the directory is a good one, I may voluntarily give a link but never because it's required. Just a matter of principle with me. Peggy 09-05-2006, 07:09 PM I'm the same way. There are plenty of directories that are truly free, no strings attached. popowich 12-22-2006, 10:33 AM Paid: Is it ever worth paying for a link? I thought the best links were on content relevant pages. -Raymond Peggy 12-22-2006, 11:14 AM Is it ever worth paying for a link? I thought the best links were on content relevant pages. -Raymond They are. I wouldn't say that it's never worth paying for a link. However, I've never paid to submit my sites to a directory and doubt that I ever would. That's not to say that I wouldn't pay to place my link on a content relevant site (not a directory) with high PR. popowich 12-22-2006, 12:27 PM What are the keys to increasing that pagerank stat? I'm mostly 2 it looks like, with a couple 3's. That seems to be not very good at all. I've been SEO'ing the last few weeks and have noticed a jump in cralwers (they're almost always on crawling the site noe) but not so much a difference in registrations and referral clicks from search engines. -Raymond minstrel 12-22-2006, 04:01 PM Nothing wrong with submitting to directories, although my preference is to focus on niche directories with relevance to your forum content. How long has your forum been in existence Raymond? PR 2 and 3 is nothing to sneeze at. One site I owned was a PR 5 until the last indexing, then dropped to PR 1 even though it's as busy as ever. Go figure minstrel 12-23-2006, 07:06 AM The key is work, work, work! At what, exactly? That's the sort of advice that isn't really advice at all. PR 2 and 3 is nothing to sneeze at. One site I owned was a PR 5 until the last indexing, then dropped to PR 1 even though it's as busy as ever. Go figure 1. PR (PageRank) is a somewhat volatile figure which is a measure of the NUMBER and QUALITY of links to a specific page. Publicly visible PR (which is all you have access to) is only up to date immediately following a public PR update, which happens only when Google feels like it, every few months or so. "Real" PR, the figure actually used by Google, changes on a continuous or ongoing basis. Generally, to increase PR requires more "quality" incoming links. 2. PR is only one of "more than 100 factors" used by Google to rank a page in their search results. Increasing PR alone may or may not help you. There are numerous examples of lower PR pages outranking higher PR pages in Google's search results. Peggy 12-23-2006, 10:45 AM At what, exactly? That's the sort of advice that isn't really advice at all. I didn't explain "at what" here, because this thread was originally started, to be a list of directories. Perhaps a split is in order? I believe I did give one small piece of advice back in Post #13 Also, go through all the SEO tips on this site, and do every one of them that you can. It all helps. I, and you, and others, have explained "at what" in numerous other threads, as well. | |
