Affiliate Advertising

I've been doing pretty good with affiliate advertising since starting my forums.

On Themes by Design, I have vB, vBSEO, The Logo Creator (one of the graphics software I use) and the Net Nanny (child protection software) and I've done pretty good from each of them.

I just keep the affiliates content relevant, yet something that my members may use.

I also have adsense, which I've yet to make a penny from, in what... 7 months?

Where do you sign up for the affiliate programs? I know of commission junction but are there other places. Personally it would too much of a PITA for me to signup at 30 different sites for affiliate linking.

It sure has Lift. Primarily because I've joined affiliate programs that are niche for my type of site. vBulletin, child protection software, GoDaddy (domains) etc. What I mean is, I doubt that having an affiliate for car insurance on my site would bring in much dollar-wise ;)

Which would be excellent on, say, a business-related site, among others.

I am hoping it will be for me as well, I also run a site using WildWestDomains reseller program for hosting and domain names and a whole host of other products, but I think that in the area my forum targets things like Child Protection software would work well, its the other stuff I have to figure out.

Its a community forum for the 4 county area that makes up the Pocono Mountain region, so its for discussion of things that go on there and in the lives of the people in that area, and of course has some general discussion type stuff. The site of course is a niche because its covers the population of a small area, but the site is for people, so I need to make sure the ads are useful, so I was thinking clothing, art (because its a popular spot for artists), art supplies for the previous reason, DVD sales, music and the like.

You could probably find alot of affiliates at Commission Junction or Digital River. You might also look at travel affiliates.

I think CJ.com does have some travel affiliates as well, and I do have an affiliate account with Digital River as well, I use that on my blog for some of the graphics stuff they offer.

I have accounts with both as well. In fact, I just received an email last night from digital river, that someone had purchased a graphics software through an affiliate link on my site.

Ya gotta love those commission checks :p

I would LOVE to do this, only I wouldn't know where to start. I have an immigration resource and support forum and I can't think of anything off hand that would fit in with my forum. Maybe VOIP? Gosh, I think I have to do more reading up on this...... thanks to 5star. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to them lol

Just incase anyone doesn't know, Commission Junction (CJ) is an Affiliate Network. CJ is not the best site to use if you have never earn't money online or don't have much knowledge of it. The reasons for this is because they close their publisher accounts whenever you have a 6 months period of inactivity. This means that all your links will not work after they suspended your account.

There are many other networks that are good. The best out of them is ShareASale. There is a list of over 100 networks here (http://www.affiliateseeking.com/netwo/23000002/1.html).
