I'm new with vBulletin so I'm sure there is an obvious solution but...
I created a calendar and set a registered user as a moderator. I then edited the user and added him to the 'moderators' usergroup. This user is also a moderator in several forums. I set the calendar to be a moderated calendar. When a different user creates a calendar event, he gets a message that this event needs moderator approval. When the moderator logs into vbulletin and goes into the calendar I don't see a way for him to approve the event. I don't see any access to the moderator's control panel. How do you gain access to the control panel? When this user goes into a forum, there is a veiw to moderate a forum. thanks

There should be a MOD link on the right footer - next to where you access the Admin CP
Big Dan 12-30-2006, 02:41 PM The default area for the Mod CP is <your forum URL>/modcp/index.php
Thanks for the replies. Using the default link to <your forum URL>/modcp/index.php
worked.
When logging as an administrator I can see the AdminCP and MOD links in the right footer. When logging in as a registered user who is also a moderator I do not see either of those links. Should I? That is what I had originally expected to see. I was hoping to provide the moderators a single log on and point them to a MOD link rather that giving them 2 different URL's for the site.

Glad it worked. :) I believe in order to see the Mod CP link, the user has to have "Moderator" set as the primary usergroup.

Well, that didn't work either. I'm not sure why I'm not seeing it.
Joeychgo 12-30-2006, 05:25 PM IM guessing there a problem with the usergroup settings for your moderator. Check to see if in his usergroup the "Can Moderate All Forums (is Super Moderator)" is set to yes. I dont think you get full moderator ability unless this is checked.
One question - did you make him a moderator in his Primary Usergroup Setting or Additional Usergroup?
Peggy 12-30-2006, 06:24 PM It seems that Jeff is saying that, as administrator, he can't see it either?

As 'Administrator' I can see both the Admin and Mod control panel links in the right footer. That is not a problem.
If I log in as just a member who is a set up as a moderator (primary usergroup) and registered user (secondary usergroup) I do not see the Mod link in the footer. I know I'm known as a moderator for the calendar because when I post to the calendar, it accepts my event and doesn't give me a message about the event needing to be moderated. If just a member who is a registered user only posts an event, they get the message that their event needs to me moderated. I am trying to log on as the moderator (not administrator) and moderate the event.
I tried the earlier suggestion by Dan that said to set the preference to essentially be a Super Moderator which caused the Mod link to appear but it looked like I could moderate ALL forums and calendar. I'd like the moderators to be selective to particular forums and calendar.
I would think this would be a pretty standard thing in vBulletin. Do Boards with moderators use the <my domain path>/modcp/index.php URL approach for their moderators or do they normally see the mod link in the footer for the Boards they can moderate?
thanks for everyones help so far:)
Peggy 12-31-2006, 10:35 AM Forum moderators are supposed to see the Mod link at the bottom of the forum, yes.
It does seem that there is something in that setting for secondary usergroup (registered member) that is preventing the moderator from seeing that link. Why do you have the mod set as a registered user secondary usergroup? Have you tried doing away with the secondary usergroup altogether... in other words, have the member set as a mod in primary usergroup, no secondary at all... to see if the mod link appears?

Well, I tried your suggestion(s) but nothing seems to work. I'll keep trying things but I may have to make the moderators 'super moderators' so they see the link. A poor solution, but one that seems to work.
Peggy 01-01-2007, 12:23 PM Jeff, you shouldn't have to make them a supermod for them to see the link. However if you do have to, you can still limit their "powers".
If you'd like for me to take a look, I'd be glad to. You'll need to PM me with admin access to your acp.
Peggy 01-01-2007, 08:19 PM ooooooooook, so I went to Jeff's forum and looked around in the acp only to find everything is set right. SO, I ventured over to .com and did a search on this subject.
Lo and behold.............. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=205462&highlight=moderators+can%27t+see+mod+cp+link
Normal moderators do not see a link to the modcp, this is working as expected
Inline moderation already provides them with a vast ammount of power over the forums. They can access the modcp, theres just no link for it
Why did they remove it?
Having one displayed like we used to adds one query for _all_ non administrative users. Everyone but you basicly
SO.... normal moderators are not supposed to see a mod link in the footer in vB vs 3.6.x.
All moderating duties are supposed to be able to be performed from the forums.
Peggy 01-01-2007, 09:14 PM When the moderator logs into vbulletin and goes into the calendar I don't see a way for him to approve the event. thankswhen the moderator logs into vB and goes to the calendar, he will see when he clicks on the calendar link, if there are any events to be moderated. Then he will click on the event, go to the bottom of the event to the drop-down menu, and select an action from there.
However as far as I can tell there is no other way for a mod to know if there is an event to be moderated. IMO, if he's the calendar moderator, he should just go to the calendar to see if anything needs moderating, if that's what his job is.
Xhris 01-01-2007, 09:35 PM Jeff I have an idea. PM me so we can discuss it. I think it would be confusing to try and post. LOL
