Peggy 06-24-2006, 10:02 AM As you are all aware, recent events have been challenging and we have been doing all that we can to resolve some of the issues.
We have now appointed Marco van Herwaarden (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/member.php?u=59998) (better known to most as MarcoH64) to head up vBulletin.org. I am sure that this is welcome news for everyone.
I am sure that all of you will support him in his new role and we look forward to getting vBulletin.org back on track. Marco's overall responsibility is the smooth and efficient running of vB.org and any queries can be directed at him.

lmao... don't do that, you'll have a headache. What's the matter?
lol

lolI don't like stirring the pot too much (normally I prefer keeping a very low profile) so all I'm going to say is that in my opinion the great Jelsoft Powers That Be [say that in a very loud, booming voice] are confusing part of the problem with the solution.
People can now interpret that statement in a number of different ways. I'm going back to lurk mode....
Joeychgo 06-24-2006, 11:27 AM What your saying is that they need new leadership over there withfresh ideas and fresh perspectives.
I agree. And in part I think that is happening.
Notice Ashley Busby (Jelsoft Business Manager) has registered and made this announcement, and thanked Wayne Luke for his service - Its my belief that Ashley Busby is the Jelsoft liason now. Her statement appeared to indicate that she and Jelsoft realize there are alot of problems there, and realize they have to take steps to correct them.
I hope Marco can do it. Its a tough Job.

Yeah - and tell me how to get VBA links to work with 3.6 :)
Gurdur 06-24-2006, 01:05 PM Joeychgo,
you made IMHO an excellent post on the Town Hall thread there. Two big points which I had been longing to make myself. Good work.

Thank you very much.
Paul M 06-24-2006, 02:29 PM Just to correct a couple of points - Ashley Busby has been a member of vb.org since Aug 2004, and is male. :)

Oh - well, I didnt know Ashley was a guy LOL.
But HE only has 2 posts ince 08/04 - Not a big talker.
noppid 06-24-2006, 03:16 PM I'm sure when the two main share holders get the jest of the real situation as opposed to what they are told in the meetings by those most are in disagreement with, business sense will kick in. But I'm not going "there" to voice an opinion either way though.
Shelley 06-24-2006, 05:03 PM I think it's good news and I have faith that marco can turn vb.org around for the better. I'll certainly be holding off on making suggestions but I sense things can only get better, they certainly can't get any worse. So, good move on marco being appointed as head admin I say.
noppid 06-24-2006, 05:15 PM They are covering up security issues that affect the communtiy. When they do that, it is no safer to download a hack from vBulletin.org or another site.
These actions render vBulletin.org completely useless.
noppid 06-25-2006, 07:41 AM This new admin cannot recieve PMs nor email nor does the contact us link work at vB.org.
This is a statement in itself. With that being the case, things will improve by member feed back how?
Joeychgo 06-25-2006, 07:44 AM I can send him PMs just fine. ??
noppid 06-25-2006, 08:10 AM Then I have been singled out to have certain functions disabled. I think this is interesting.
Paul M 06-25-2006, 08:49 AM The only interesting part is that you really think anyone would bother doing such a thing.
Coder1 06-25-2006, 11:38 AM We'll see.
I feel he's mishandled several key issues, and allowed personal feelings to trump policy on a couple of occassions.
With the private, coders-only discussion on the appropriateness of private, coders-only discussions now concluded (mercifully; I can only endure so much irony and hypocrisy), with a 50-50 split decision, not counting the PUBLIC opinions that tend to favor open discussion, that issue will be a real litmus test.
However, Marco has threatened banning to anyone who brings the issue up again, so I'm not confident he has the ability to manage things in a mature, professional way.
I'm shocked that someone who has bungled such an important issue so badly, would be appointed as "head admin", so my knee-jerk reaction is that this move was made to strengthen the "status quo" of the site, rather than to address any of the issues.
So yeah, this brings me back to: we'll see.
