popowich 01-08-2007, 06:48 PM Hello,
I am looking for the recommends classifieds hack for VB 3.6 The features I care most about are that it's VB integrated (obviously), puts paid ads bigger/over free ones, allows businesses to link for free to their sites, and lets members sell items at fixed price and eBay style auctions. Is there a way for a system like this to automatically cut me in for a small percentage of the sales? Sending the cut to paypal is good. Anything else I should be considering?

Hell³ 01-09-2007, 12:50 AM I know of only two, vBClassified (http://www.vbclassified.com) (formerly SR-Classifieds, recently revamped) and Photopost Classifieds (http://www.photopost.com/class/).
I used SR-Classifieds before the new owner took over and it was very buggy and support was sub-par, but the new owner has promised address all the issues and provide better support now. I'm currently waiting to cash in some debts and buy a new vBulletin and vBClassified licenses to and start a new project.
The way SR-classifieds worked, and I think vBClassified works pretty much the same way now, is that you can set it up for some usergroups to buy "credits" to post new ads, I'm not sure if you can setup now to get a percentage from the sale, but you can always ask yourself in their forums.
This reminded me that I need a section like this. Thanks for listing the links Hell.
Hell³ 01-09-2007, 02:35 PM No problem, previously I had vBclassified setup on my main forum, but it was sub-used, but on a forum with good traffic I'm sure it will prove very useful.
By the way, I forgot to mention that vBclassified uses paypal, has an auction system and regular ads too, and a featured ads system as well.

The paypal feature can be turned off, right? I don't think I want to have them do the money thing directly on my site because I don't want to be held responsible at all. Do you have any advice for me about this issue?
My members have been asking for me to allow selling, bartering and the "giving away" of things they no longer need on my site so I think this Classifieds feature will be a nice add-on.
Hell³ 01-10-2007, 10:18 AM Yeap the paypal option is always optional. I would use it since it is a "plus" service and money would be used to cover the hosting services, also, having it be paid would mean it has a lesser chance to be abused. You can always put a disclaimer.
Alternatively, you can also integrate it with the vbBux/vbPlaza extension. Meaning your members would have to spend vbBux points to buy credits to be able to post and feature ads.

Peggy 04-26-2007, 05:26 AM hmmmm, that's odd. We use vBClassifieds here.
