MSQL versus MYSQLI

Ok, here is my question:

When I configured the Config.php file I used mysql as the dbtype - would it be better to chage it now to mysqli - and could I use an FTP program to change this one thing, or do I have to upload the entire "upload" file with the new changes? My host is asmallorange.

Thanks

Unless you have some specific reason to want to use mysqli then leave it as is.
