FREEBS Book Store Added

The vBulletin FAQ Book Store has been added.

See it here: vBulletin FAQ Book Store (http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/books/index.php)

You can access this from the Article Pages or the Quick Links drop down menu.

This was built using noppid's FREEBS script.

FREEBS is dynamic and internal to your site. All of your links, except the buy button, will be internal even if the book is not on file. If a similar link is followed to a book not on file, the book will still be displayed locally. There is really no end to following the similar links, it could go on and on with all books displayed for purchase on your site. This is helpful to sell off topic books yet be able to keep your FREEBS book store indexes on topic.

If you get your own Amazon Associates ID you can make a commission off every book sold on your website. SO this is something you should consider implementing on your own forum.

You can get your own copy of FREEBS by visiting Noppid's forum here: FREEBS (http://www.cpurigs.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=29)

Even if you don't want to sell books. This can add ALOT of indexed pages in the SERPs. ;)

Hey noppid -

If you don't mind my asking, why do you send the user to Amazon when they want to buy a book? Why not just add it to the user's cart and allow them to continue browsing through the available selections and then send them to Amazon's checkout when they're done?

I didn't write it to sell books. It had other means. But it does sell books. That's a good idea though.

Well, what's the purpose of having a book store, if not to sell books?

FYI: CartCreate (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aws/sdk/main.html/102-2619033-2377743?s=AWSEcommerceService&v=2005-03-23&p=ApiReference/CartCreateOperation) - CartAdd (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aws/sdk/main.html/102-2619033-2377743?s=AWSEcommerceService&v=2005-03-23&p=ApiReference/CartAddOperation)

FREEBS is a WDSL 3, not 4. I have no plans to improve it or release an upgrade.

I'm doing an a WDSL ECS 4 store. It's still in Dev. But again, I didn't try to make a shop. Just lots and lots of keyword rich pages.

I have the start of a nice class to do the ECS 4 calls so far. I dunno where it's going at this point to be certain though. I mean I got what "I" want. I'll let ya know where I wind up when I'm done.

Ah, ok, I get it now.

I've got a WDSL ECS 4 bookstore that I've been working on, on and off, for a while... I released it for VB 3.0.7 and haven't gotten around to updating it for 3.5 yet. One of these days, perhaps.

Two comments on sales. Don't use the vB back end for a money making app. You limit your usage.

Two, I'll never release a money making hack/app again and compete with myself. ;)
