Upgrade from 3.6.3 to 3.6.4

Having an issue upgrading from 3.6.3 to 3.6.4:
(had to install 3.6.4 clean, and having trouble installing the old database)

Okay, well I will make this as short as possible... I had 3.6.3, and I was attempting to upgrade to 3.6.4, but in the process I ended up screwing up my board and having to do a new install. That's okay though, because I did a Database Backup before hand... Now, I went through all the installing and got it to 3.6.4... So, it's a brand new board again... Now when I attempted to upload the forum back (SQL file) through the Execute SQL Query option, I kept getting an error: "1064". If you need me to copy the whole error, I can do so.

Anyway, I tried connecting to MySQL and importing it through that, but it ended up making my board not even show... Can anyone please save my life and tell me what I need to do... I would greatly appreciate it...

I apologize if this question has been answered, I tried searching around (ALOT) on more then just this board, and couldn't really find an answer...

Hope to hear from someone soon...

Can you show us the whole error?

I guess there maybe a problem due to your upload limit.

Try using impex to restore the backup. You get that at vBulletin in the member's area where you DL your vB files.

Impex is setup for other boards isn't it? I already cleared out the database (I didn't really know what I was doing at first), but I still have the .sql backup I created before I attempted to upgrade.. Any help?

Can you show us the whole error?

I guess there maybe a problem due to your upload limit.

An error occurred while attempting to execute your query. The following information was returned.
error number: 1064
error desc: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ';
CREATE TABLE `access` (
`userid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
' at line 1

That is the error I am getting when I try to copy/paste the content from the backed up .sql file. I was using AdminCP > Maintence > Execute SQL Query

Okay, I have some updates...

I decided to go back to go to MySQL, and go to SQL and copy+paste the whole .sql back up I made and execute that. Then I decided to install the OLD 3.6.3. I selected UPDATE and I installed it.

I now see my board setup the way it used too... BUT HERES THE PROBLEM...

It shows the all the users that used to be registered, but when I go to the users in the admicp, it only shows me...

It also shows all the threads there used to be, but when I go into the Forum Sections, it says they are empty...

I am really in need of help, if anyone can help me let me know. If this isn't the board that can help me, please direct me else-where.

The way I would correct this would be to take a copy of the original backed up database for 3.6.3 and a completely fresh file upload of vBulletin 3.6.4. Make sure that the config file for vb3.6.4 has all the right database details listed as well as all the files uploaded in the correct directory structures. Only when you are sure that it is connecting to a unaltered copy of the 3.6.3 database, then run the vBulletin upgrade script. To do that you point your browser at

http://www.example.com/forum/install/upgrade.php obviously changing the first part to match your correct website and forum directory. ;)

Whilst running the script it will take you through several steps, make sure it completes everyone without any errors, if it doesn’t make a note of which step it stops on and the error, then come back here and we will do our best to help you fix it.

I am going to attempt that now, I will let you know my results.

Also, I hope this isn't breaking any rules, if it is please remove this part of my post... I created a thread of vBulletins Forums. It's a has a lot more details about the issue I am experiencing. You can view it here: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=218983&page=2

UPDATE:
I attempted to due the exact procedure you suggested. Everything seems to update 100% successfully, but I still don't see any users/threads. Only the main page looks functional when it really isn't. You can see screen-shots here:

This is getting a little out of my depth now but if the upgrade script completed without any reported issues and you are still not seeing any threads and posts I can only assume that when you copied the database originally (or for this upgrade) that it did not do a complete copy.

Can you check the database manually for the threads and posts to see if they are present in the current instal (and also the backup from which you created this DB) ?

I suspect that they may be missing or incomplete, although if the latter I would expect the upgrade script to report an error?

Did you update the counters?

Did you update the counters?

I'm not sure which ones to update, but when I attempted to update them all, it ended up clearing out my whole board (other the the custom style).

I just looked in the mysql and i found all the posts/threads, so i'm not sure why they aren't showing up. Honestly, I don't care about the users having to re-register, I care about all the threads...

If you can tell me exactly what counters I should update, I will take a shot at it. Hope to hear from you soon.
