EG Signature Rules

Here is my very first hack. It is a signature rules hack.

You set the rules in your adminCP and they show up in the edit signature window in the userCP. It will help the users know what rules they must follow when using a sig on your forum.

Time to install: 1 minute

Remember always backup your database before installing any hack.

Version 1.2
I changed it around some. The rules now show up as bullet list. I mainly cleaned it up.

Version: 1.4
Fixed it so the Additional Notes field is below the rules at all times.

Version: 1.6
Fixed it so longer rules will wrap and not cause the rules to spread out.
Updated screen shot to show this.

UPGRADE:
Just upload the new product file and select yes to allow override and that is it.

wench, yes it will. It was designed with 3.6x

I have a question.

There are already settings for signatures per usergroup. So, I'm assuming that this simply shows those rules to the member when they attempt to edit their signatures... am I correct?

Just did this in my test forum. Yes you are correct Peggy. Great way to let members know exactly what is acceptable. Most of my settings would be 0 for my FBI Forums so have tucked this one away for definate future use.

Yes you are correct. This just gives the admin more rules that they can tell the users they have to follow.

it will help the users know what rules they must follow when using a sig on your forum.

This modification has been update to version 1.4:

I fixed the Additional Notes field. It wasn't showing up on the bottom of the rules at all times. It does now. So please update your modification.

Updated - Version 1.6

By request of some users on VBulletin.org I have made a small change to this hack. The rules will now wrap and not cause the other rules to spread out. Screen shot has been updated for you to see what I mean.

Just wanted to say thanks for this, I haven't installed it yet but I think its a great idea!!!

What would be really nice is if someone could make a similar hack for inserting images in posts, most forums have maximium image size rules, and constantly reminding members of those sizes is a pain, if it was automatic, it would be great!
