Uploading Smilies

Hello, I have just got started with my vbulletin forum at http://www.ps3formula1.com/forum/index.php. I wanted to ask if someone could give me the dummies version of putting more smilies on my forum please? Thank you in advance.

hello mate go to admin Control Panel and go to smilies upload smilies Smilie File Path and

put in images/smilies/name of the folder with your new smilies in then press upload

This is my method -

Save the smilies to your computer. Then go to your acp > Smilies > Upload Smilie > click on Browse.


On your computer, navigate to the you want to add & load it in the browse box.
Give the smilie a title
give it a "code" that a user would type, such as :) or :smile: (if the code you choose is in use by another smilie it will let you know when you save. In that case, you'll need to think of another code)
leave the rest, unless you've created categories (I do because I have literally hundreds of smilies on my forum)
Click the Upload button

Do I have to upload one smilie at a time? I wanted to upload a group of them. Is this different? Thx for your help.

Most likely you can upload more than one at a time. However, I prefer to upload them one at a time, since you're going to have to go in and assign them codes individually anyway.

Where are you getting your smilies at? I have figured it out. woohoo Its the small things that are awesome.

You can bulk upload smiles. Upload them via FTP to one directory say /images/smiles1 then

ACP > Smilies > Second Box "Add Multiple Smilies" > Specify the path (ex: /images/smilies1) > Press "Add Smilies"

You will then be directed to a page that shows all the smilies with the option of changing the bbcode (text replacement like :) = :) ), tick each smile and hit add.

I know you can bulk upload them, I just didn't know that you could change the text replacement while you're doing it. I thought you'd have to go back in after the upload and change them all, one at a time.

Hi! I'm new here and am trying to add new smilies to my messageboard. I'm doing something wrong though!

I am wanting to add them one by one for now just so I can pick and choose which ones I add, but am I supposed to be downloading these to my computer or just copying the image code? Once I copy the image code, what box am I putting it in???

I think I finally figured this out! Now I just need to figure out how to get them to not all show at the same time. LIke have a More tab. How do I do that???

Go into your ACP > vBulletin Options > Message Posting Interface.
This is where you set up your smilies in the text editor. It's pretty self-explanatory, as in how many smilies you want to show before you see the "Show all smilies, or "more" link....

Hey!

That's how I've tried to upload new smilies but I always get this error message:

There was an error encountered with your upload:

* Invalid File Path Specified


There are no categories created and old smilies have the path that uploader gives automatically "images/smilies" :idunno:

I'd ask our headadmin for help but he's away atm. Any ideas?
