This may sound somewhat "morbid" to some, but........

Suppose someone finds out they're dying. How do you think that this person would go about "leaving" their online "possessions" (if you could call them that) to someone else? Can they?

And by online possessions, I'm talking websites, ummmmmmm... graphics, blogs, vB licenses, misc stuff.

Do you think that the typical will would suffice, since we're not talking about anything tangible?

Just curious... :)

Most licenses and contracts are lifetime only, meaning they could not possibly be inherited. Maybe leave information, like the database info, but not the sites per-se. The domains I'm not really sure, maybe those could.

Just transfer everything into a corporate name. Then leave the corp to someone else.

Where things get tricky -- how does this person run the sites if they arent a webmaster?

Just transfer everything into a corporate name.
A trust would be even better for this sort of thing. You can appoint trustees who are not the beneficiaries (or are) and you don't have most of the corporate compliance issues.
