Maybe this is some result of the concept of an empty forest root still rattling around in my head... does anyone ever create an admin user account that can be shared among the admins? Suppose one of the admin accounts is compromised, this would give that admin a backdoor way in at the admin level. Or, if some harsh measures need to be taken against a member, this would be the anonymous voice of the admins laying gown the law.

Yep I've done this. Mainly for the purpose of giving someone temp admin access if I need help with something on my forum.

I give admin access instead.
And this common shared account may be harmful because you can't know who did what.
For the safety of my moderators (because there's a lot of unstable people out there), we've constructed an Admin that enforces our site. It could be any of them. Kind of like a hooded executioner.
It's very effective and no one has to worry about their actions spilling into their personal lives.

Something similar, at our company there's an emailbox under the name of "ITadvisory" used to send out administrative messages like advance notice of downtime. Or, they have many different people with proxy rights to a mailbox named CustomerSolutions, so an email written by anyone in that group can go out under that name.

That's similiar to what we are doing. That way edits and deletes etc cant be personal. The Admin did it. :)
