I think the keywords set in the AdminCP would be used as the keyword METAs for pages like your site's FAQ pages (the Vb ones from the navbar)..... Never checked, really. My robots.txt excludes them anyway.

But opinion has it that Google doesn't pay much attention to those keyword METAs anyway.

Maybe post a SERPs result so we can see what you're getting at exactly.

Actually Joe, I ahd posted several problems related to my website on VB FAQ. Thats why rather getting my own pages in search results, I am getting the vvb faq results.

Dave, when one was searching for like "motorbike stunt club.." (meta tags on pages) on google.com, I was getting my website on the very first page of google. But after making changes, it is not coming up there. But when now I'm searching for the same keywords, I am not able to see my website listed there. But whne I search for the domain (excluding the .com) it comes up and shows the same meta tags as coded.

he searches for www.asdfjkhasdf.com or w/e in google, and rather than seeing his site, he sees a linkto his site, posted on vbfaq's page. Since vb-faq has alot higher search ranking

if i type "talk delaware" into google

my first result is my site, the second is from a link for TD on a vb-faq page.........but idk maybe my rank is better than his

am i being confusing, i think i understand what hes saying, but im making it worse....lol

Ahhhhh -- ok -- Like what keywords?

You have to understand - vBFAQ is a pretty strong site as far as Google is concerned. We easily rank high for all kinds of things Google finds.

Hold on a moment. Aman, you're on Google webmaster tools (we were talking registering sitemaps before). Surely there are some clues as to what is going on in the stats there.

I submitted the site map, was getting listing on google, but on re-submitting (as we discussed Dave before) and then got disappered. Stats says that info is not available at the moment.

Joe, I was getting listed as the first search result some days ago, vbfaq was also in the que but after mine & Thats true!!

But it says somewhere that google bot last crawled your site on 22 feb.

Google's updating your info. It can be quite irritating. Check every 12 hours or so to see when it comes back. It's taken up to three days for me before.

My only concern now is that you've had no robots through since 22nd Feb? Or is that just the homepage (it happens).

Also, when last did Google download the sitemap?

Google makes updates all the time, and changes the search algo on a whim. SO what your describing is totally normal. Irritating, but normal.

ok it says in statistics

in sitemap last downloaded

and in Diagnostic summary

it says

If your pages are not changing every day, there is no need to panic.

In a busy forum environment, I'd be hoping that at least the sitemap would be downloaded more often. For example, Google collects mine every 24 hours.

Looks like you are just going to have to wait it out.

mmmm ok but I am talking abt the website noe forums.

Google figures out how often it should visit after a while. The main factor is how often pages are added or changed. There are ways to "tell" Google how often to visit, but Google seems to pretty well takes its own advice in that regard.

For a static content site, once a week would not be out of order. Could even drop to once a month.

Your Google SERPs and indexing issue is different, though. Something that happens at the early stages of setting up with Google Webmaster Tools. My experience is it settles down after a while.
