http://locoforum.com is my vb site.
I'll be changing the URL shortly..
I've had this forum up for something like 3 years now, and it's just recently begun to get active with the help of the thread games we've been paying @ http://locoforum.com/thread-games/
I just recently trashed the old site, saving the database and started over again, designing it for search engines, and fast loading..
not sure if this site will review my site, but I'd love to here your opinions and suggestions to make the site better :)
Regards

btw, here is a little more info about the site. I was in a bit of a hurry earlier when I posted this..I made this forum for a 2 good friends of mine in the town I pretty much grew up in, Emporia, KS. I believe they have 7 or 8 members in the bands, and it's 2 different bands with 2 different sounds. "LocoMacheen & the Dewayn Bro's" as u could gather from my title hopefully..lol
anyways the site I'm getting ready to switch with have more info about the bands, and Locoforum.com has the pages on the site, I just have work still as u can see, (locoforum.com/home.htm -example ) there main url is, yes u guessed it with the "loco" theme http://locomacheen.com.
I had the site pretty much done, with all the goodies and fun stuff from vb.org, but I felt it was a bit slow, and I didn't care for the portal.... and My client ( the band ) did not like the portal at all.. they want something simple, and easy to navigate. most google cache are the old style and site if u care to look
So, you see what I have now, I'm considering using vba or one of the CMS systems at vb.org but keep it Real simple.. maybe only 4 Sections showing, the head of the band is an artist too,, designed all the poster, and all art you see, but he is getting me some images that will be on the front page..
anyway.. here is some more info if you wish :), thx for checking out my work, it's been a long ride, started at phpbb-ipb-leased vb- and now owned vb, the software is great, and secure..
Regards

  WOW! What a difference from what it was before! I like it. No... I love it. But then again, my favorite color is red, so I can't help but like it. HOWEVER.... There is a bit too much red in the text. I would suggest making the red text and links, much darker red, almost maroon. And, changing the text and links in the 2nd alternating color area to a dark gray, not black, but gray. You'll still have the dark red there because you have the small font set to the red.
The only thing I'm not crazy about with the set-up is the little links section that you have to the left of the forum. Unless you're going to run ads all down that side of the forum, it's making the forum body look shoved over to the right.
Other than that... I'm liking it! :D

Thank you for the tips on the color I'll work on that after i post this..
I'm not very good with color, and after i read what u suggest, then yes it makes since..lol
the stuff on the left, I have plans for. it's going to help oraganize the forum
plus right now I have that first section with large description size, maybe I'll drop that and it'll help some
* I'm not that good with the css,, i think i darkened the red you where talking about.

Oh that's looking better! But the red isn't dark enough... try #800000.
And in the 2nd alternating color section, I really think a dark gray would offset all that red. Try this one #8C8786 for the Normal Links CSS and Visited Links CSS only, see what that looks like.
This is just a suggestion. If you want all that red there that's fine too.

Emporia, KS? Ah, the memories... I won the state debate championship, and placed 3rd in Forensics (competitive acting/speaking) for my brilliant monologue as Salieri, from Amadeus. What a dork. Those drama chicks, though... wow.
As to your site, I personally don't like this "burnt red" I'm suddenly seeing everywhere. Just a personal preference, though - don't change it on my account! The header navigation is very nice.

I live in Topeka ks now, just a tad bigger..

absolutely... add some content to that links bar til you are ready to do whatever it is you're going to do. Being that short little thing up there is throwing the page off big-time.

Looks too much like the color of a scab. I think more orange or yellow tone would go better with the greys.
