Hullo. I read with interest Joey's anti-spam tutorial and clicked on the provided link - NoSpam! - an alternative to CAPTCHA images. On the page that link took me to I scrolled down to Download Now and Click Here for information. I entered my customer number etc. as requested there and assumed the "hack" would be emailed to me. This did not happen.
Where does one go exactly to get hold of product-nospam35.xml?
The instructions say to go to ACP/Product Manager. I have Version 3.5.4 and have a Plugin Manager. Is that the same thing? I am lost.
Thanks for advice.

ACP standing for Admin Control Panel.
You have to go to:
AdminCP -> Plugin System -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Products

I think the problem is getting the download (?)
Can't really help, though. I haven't used this particular product.

I think she doesn't know where to upload the 'product'. I hope I'm not wrong. :)

It could be because I am working on a virtual drive at the moment that I'm having a problem but just to get things clear this is what I did. WhaLberg, I did go where you say to go but I tried adding a new product. So this time I arrived at Add/Import Products and I changed the file name that was there (./includes/xml/product.xml) to ./includes/xml/product-nospam35.xml and clicked Import. I got a msg saying "You did not specify a file to upload......." That was a surprise. I thought I was trying to download/import a file. It said vbulletin would download it from its server. That sounded reasonable to me :-)
Then I got "No file uploaded and no local file found". In my newbie state I find this contradictory. You pros are probably laughing your heads off (I'm doing that anyway) cause I'm so darn lost! Am I anywhere near warm?
I think I may be headed for Regular Posthood at vbulletin-faq.

Julie, the 1st step is to download the file onto your computer from wherever you're getting it from. It might be an xml file or it might be a zipped package.
Normally, when you click on the download link, a dialogue box will open asking whether you want to save or run the download. Save it (it's a good idea to have a folder for this sort of thing - you're going to be collecting plenty I'm sure).
If it is a zipped package, right click to select unzip all.
Now you go to the upload manager that Wahlberg is talking about.
Use the browse button next to the upload xml from your computer option to find the file you want to upload.
From there it's follow the prompts.

Hey Dave - thanks for your reply. I got the hack working and am excited about it.
The reason I was unable to d/l it was because it took me a while to realise I was showing up as unlicensed at the relevant forum where the file was and then I made a mistake in entering the required email address over at vbulletin. Once I corrected that I could see the file and things went smoothly from there.
Thanks again.

Hello,
I recommend validate e-mail (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?p=1225184) in addition to the product above.
I am using both products in my forum.
The validate e-mail is new, but has significantly reduced the number of registrations with invalid e-mails for me.

Oh yeah. I remember having a bit of fun with the tie-up between vb.org and vb.com myself. The trick as I recall was to make sure the email address you give at vb.org is on the list of email addresses for your profile at vb.com - In my case I did not have any email addresses set up for my forum domain when I got vB - but did by the time I got to register at .org
Anyway, glad you're sorted.
