After some searching I found and installed this mod (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=136743). Great!

Personally, I get a bit tired of seeing so much advertising. I mean, you see ads in the header, the footer, the side columns, showthread, etc etc etc etc etc ETC - now as a second post too? UGH
If we're not careful, we're going to start driving away the very people that we depend on to click on those ads. I know of some people who have stopped coming here because they think there are too many ads.

I don't think it is too bad here. Historically I've always had a single banner slot but no one clicks it because it looks like advertising. I have some of mine wrapped now so registered members don't see some of them, and see even less if they happen to make a donation (along with getting all sorts of PM space and all that good stuff). I've started reading The AdSense Code. Basically the trick is to make the ads not look like ads I guess, but without breaking TOS. When I know more I'll probably post a few extra tips. There are a bunch of people probably making more money from my site than I am, so I really don't mind adding some extra ads to see what kind of return I can generate from the adsense placements in addition to the existing revenues.

I also think that too much advertising can spoil your enjoyment and drive people away.
IMHO this hack is bad for business. I've seen it on a few forums and it is annoying.
Yes Peggy I don't like advertising on the left of the <h1> tags between the navbar and the forumdisplay .
Much better without it . :)

That second post adsense ad is doing 10x+ better today than any total day from the last few months.

I think the nature of the forum has some influence on the tolerance levels to and take-up of Google Ads.

I think I have things looking pretty nice now. As long as your are active and not getting a welcome headers nag message about being inactive, something as simple as a buy Ray a cofee ($1.99 paypal hit) gets things looking pretty slick. :)
