vBadvanced is proud to announce the release of vBadvanced CMPS v3.0! The newest version has been in the works for quite a while and it addresses most of the problems or limitations from previous versions, and truly gives site administrators complete control of the software and how it works on their web site.

Some of the new features include:

Modules may now be freely placed and moved around on a per-page basis.
Integration with other vBulletin files and hacks can now be done through the Admin CP with no file modifications required.
Adding new columns or "locations" for modules is now as easy as changing a setting and adding a variable to the 'adv_portal' template to determine where the modules for that location will be displayed.
Options to copy the module layout from other pages.
Options to allow you to quickly add a specific module to multiple pages.
Lots of optimization to the code for the front-end, and a better layout and design throughout the back-end in the Admin CP.But that's just the very tip of the iceberg. For more information and complete details regarding v3.0, please see the thread below.

Ya know... I still feel that vBAdvanced - though a brilliant vB addon - still retains too much of a forum type appearance for portal pages. I am currently looking into an alternative commercial portal script that will hopefully be a long way from looking like a forum.

Instead of the portal taking on the appearance and style of my vB forum, I am looking to have a totally new portal style, with the style then being adapted for the forum. That way I get a totally unique www site - including the vB style.

Nothing comes cheap though eh... so am ensuring I get a quality designer working on this. So far... so good.

All you have to do is customize the modules to get rid of that look. I did it on vbw remember?

I really need to set up a test board.

I've spent a bit of time at vBa looking at discussion on vBa 3.0 RC1. As might be expected there are a few bugs being reported - but it seems that Brian is being very attentive and solving them as they come up.

Overall, the new version is a great step forward. If you've got a pretty standard setup it seems like you can upgrade without fear. Unfortunately a few parts of my setup are pretty tweaked - so I'm going to go the test board route first.

I think that's a smart move Dave. I'm toying with the idea of putting up a test board myself.

It's nice to have a place to try things out and not have to worry about 'breaking' anything.

But gee, talk about a board with no new members...
