Now, Shoemoney mentioned this weekend that there would be a press release involving AuctionAds and eBay coming this week. He gave me no further information.
I am now wondering seriously if eBay is going to buy or partner with AuctionAds, throw a bunch of money and marketing at AuctionAds as an Adsense competitor.
This has broad implications - positive ones I think. eBay has been moving away from Google and struck a deal last year with Yahoo that, among other things, made Yahoo the exclusive provider of search and display ads within U.S. eBay sites.
Are we looking at a real competitor to Google coming? A merger of eBay, AuctionAds and Yahoo could be on the horizon. Such a combo would make a strong competitor to Google.
I wonder where Microsoft will fit into all this.
