AuctionAds - How long before the money starts pouring in

Ok I signed up with AuctionAds yesterday and I've already lots of clicks.....so what has been your experience with payoff?

When does ebay report to AuctionAds (realtime, daily, monthly)? Does it show up on AuctionAds reports right away or do they have to "manage" the data so that we see it? When does ebay pay AuctionAds? How long then tell they pay us?

Just trying to get an idea of the complete process.

Thanks for your help!

It takes a little while for earnings to get completely ramped up. Reason for this is that you get paid when the auction closes IF your member wins. Auctions dont close right away. SO you may have had clicks yesterday where they bid but havent won yet.

Reporting seems to be a few days behind. Today is the third and I only have earnings from the 1st.

You might want to replace that ad with a 160x600 to get more ads on the page. You might also want to use the hack we have here that gives you different keywords for different forums.

Work on your keywords a bit. Baby clothes dont sell for much, so your commission will be smalle. Maybe go after some designer clothes or other items of higher value but stll of interest to your members.

maternity clothes are good sellers... books, music, electronics, kids toys, videos - just about anything could be advertised on your site Todd. Of course I wouldn't advertise tools, or cars, but I'm sure you get my drift. You have a very W I D E selection to go with.

I just signed up too! But I only have it on the home page for right now, not sure where else to stick it. Not fond of a ton of advertising. Fingers are crossed for much success for us.

I like to place it on showthread just above the Quick Reply box, like on this forum.

I will have to put it in there rotating with some google code.

I don't think it matters too much if baby clothes don't sell for much, your commission might be small for those items but thats whats going to get them to click on the ad from that site.

This isn't Adsense where you get one payout for one click, usually a few cents ... Auction Ads is all about getting your cookies onto your visitors PCs. From there you have to hope that they buy other items on ebay over the next 30 days ..... and a lot of people do :)

The wife might click on baby clothes and end up buying a whole stack of baby related stuff ... and the husband gets on the PC and buys a Wii and a heap of software for it over the 30 days :D

Very true! Most people don't look at it like that. You don't want to look at my last 2 ebay buys.

Anyone have any ideas on MY results? I have a niche site which has a very, very active eBay market and I've had people tell me that they've purchased through the links and won auctions. From what I can see, it seems like the cookies are setting. Auctionads told me to "change my keywords" because they "aren't converting"... But this keyword is exactly the product and turns up the perfect ads. Any ideas???

How could I have almost 4,000 clicks and 0 purchases? Is there a significant reporting delay?

Thats pretty much impossible.

I'm starting to get very suss on there reporting, It was OK and I was quite happy about the way things were progressing but since Sunday it's like I have hit a brick wall.
Impressions haven't changed, in fact they are rising but suddenly my clicks have come close to a full stop.
I was averaging just under 40 clicks per day every day, very constant and the impressions matched. Revenue was growing week over week, last week it was $36.74

These are my stats for the last week, keep in mind that for the previous two weeks the clicks were all around 30+ per day.
36 - 35 - 38 - 42 - 39 - 5 - 5 - 5.

Something is definitely not right, clicks don't just drop off overnight like that.

It seems to me there is a 2 day delay in reporting. They update money made for 2 days ago at 1:00am my time. I just check it in the morning when I wake up. 4000 clicks I wish I had that many I would convert that like a mofo. Also if you have a lot of users that use firefox. cookies may only stay untill the browser is shut down.

edit***** I just did some quick math and divined by whole I am making about .11 per click which in my book is still better than adsense

Yeah, I think it's impossible too. And to further, I know for a FACT that a user on my site clicked the link and won the auction that was advertised on the link for $78.00 on 7/8. No credit to my account. How could they tell me that "Everything is fine, you just aren't converting" if I have proof??? Does anyone know how better to get ahold of them? It seems they answer your inquiry after 2 days and then you have to wait another 2 days for any response to your responses.

EDIT: Someone mentioned 1AM EST... Still got nothin'...
Impressions: 2368541 Clicks: 4544 Revenue: $0.00

There's definitely something very wrong there, I calculate that so far you should have earned ~ $700.00 with that many clicks and impressions - and there should be more to come from the roll on effect.

I would redo all the adds and use seperate channels, one for each ad unit you use.
I do that and also colour code each unit by changing the colour of the Auction Ads link if there are more than one unit on the same pages. Probably overkill but by doing that I know at a glance which ad units and which keywords are converting.

ok, the whole member bought something for 78.00 on 7/8 means nothing.
1. You have 30 days to pay on ebay
2. The seller has to report receiving payment before you will receive commission.
3. So if today is the 13th thats only 5 days
4. If he bought and paid for it you would get paid
5. The only way to receiver really fast reporting is them using buy it now and paying with paypal.

Also if a person goes through the link and bids then gets out bid later and rebids after they have cleared the cookie you will not get credit.

Does you site deal with children or adults? Most kids these days have their own computers in there rooms. The cookie will not be on the parent or the person who purchases things on ebays computer.

also remember you do not get a % of the final purchase price you get a % of the listing fee.

while I do see your Problem with 4000 clicks and zero conversions what kind of site are these on? please post the site url

I'm sorry, I didn't realize that the seller had to report payment receipt and I'm not sure how they paid. They clicked directly on the link from my site and bid on the item and won it. No way the cookie was cleared. My site appeals to all ages and most are avid on eBay. I know of someone else who spent about $100 two days ago, as well and .. still .. nothing ..

Even one day with $0.01 would make me happy.

Where did you get this from?

I dont recall ever reporting that I received a payment when I sold something on eBay, only if I didnt.

If I remember correctly when I sold things I had to mark item as paid for in my ebay. I would think that is how they would know it was paid other wise you would be getting credit before the person has paid or getting credit when the person has never paid. If this is not correct I'm sorry but there has to be a way for Ebay to know the seller was paid. Because if there wasn't you cold just buy a house through your own links and not pay.

eBay assumes you have been paid unless you file a non paying bidder complaint.

sapper

How long do the hold payment for the affiliates? because if what you are saying is true then they would be able to hold payment for up to a month right? cause I think a non-paying thing can be filed up to 30 days. which would mean I could Buy a house get the commission. and never pay for it. Unless Ebay is waiting until the time to file a non-pay thing has passed.

I'm confused please explain
